Motor Mount Lift

So you were able to lift the motor with one side completely out and the other loosened?
Yep, just put enough upwards pressure to get one mount out (I did the pass side first), then loosened the drivers side. The engine lifted easily and lined right up without trouble.

If you are going to do both MML and BL, I would try to do both at the same time. If not you will have to deal with fan shroud temporarily.

Yep! Plan on doing both, just wasn’t sure if body before motor was better order.

So I started the project last night and finally got the motor mount and bracket off the drivers side. I had a really hard time getting the bracket out with the mount attached. Any tips to get it back in? Thanks!

I put the bracket back on without the mount attached.

Finally finished the mml and body lift - now on to the fun stuff. Mml = no fun! Thanks for all the help and tips.

Know this is an old thread but getting the driver side engine bracket off and on is a bitch. Access through the bottom but the bracket with heat shield barely has room to maneuver out and putting it back in is harder. Used JKS block risers with stock mounts for motor lift. Installed the bracket first but couldn't get the bolts back in with limited working space, awkward placement of the bracket and virtually no visual clues for the location of bolt holes. Finally solved the locating issue by using two pin punches to locate two of the three bolt holes and rest the bracket in place while screwing the third bolt in. Once you've gotten the one bolt in the other two bolts are easy installs. Once the bracket was in place jacked up the engine and installed the lift block and motor mount without problem.

Line up on passenger side was another story. Bolt was less than a 1/8" off but couldn't the bolt threads to start without cross threading. Used an alignment punch to pry the mount into place but the threads still wouldn't start. Tried off and on for two days without luck. Finally enlisted my son to help but he had the same problem as I did and gave up after an hour of trying. My daughter in law came out to see what all the swearing was about and my son asked her to try and get the bolt in. Thought he asked her as a joke but she dove right in and worked on it for a 15 minutes or so. Finally got the threads on the bolt to bite. Guess it was her smaller hands that worked the magic. Offered her nitrile gloves but she did it bare handed. Great choice my son made marrying her.

You need to pull the bolt to the frame where the engine mount stud comes through the bottom on the passenger side. Can't get a socket on Motor mount stud without pulling that bolt. May have to lift engine up a bit to get a socket on the bolt because of the engine mount stud sticking down. Haven't pulled it yet.

Left the fan shroud in place for the install. Made sure the fan was oriented so a blade was not pointed straight up or down and had no problem with contact between the fan shroud and fan blade.
