I had an incident in Des Moines and could use some help.

Busted front tire.

I was getting off I-80 and somwthing went bang. Thought I blew a tire. Slowed down then a sudden drop and thought I was on the rim. Pulled into a contruction zone and my front tire ran into my back bumper.

I got towed to a parts store bought new studs and lugnuts for the spare but can't get them to pull through.

I'm smiling pissed off. Happy it came off where it did and not at 70mph I'd been driving the last 2 hours. Glad I didn't roll or hit the concrete wall.

Pissed I'm 20 minutes from where I was headed at 7:50pm and I'm a couple tools short from getting there. My wife will come with what I need and I'll fix a car tomorrow instead of working on my daughter's place she's moving in for vet school next weekend.

Unfortunately my buddy doesn’t live there anymore or he’d have easily been able to help you.

Such nice wheels and tires too.

I rotated those two tires this week and torqued them down properly. But I remember the two on the other side where very hard to break loose after having them balanced.

I wonder if they realized these were overtightened on this side and they backed them off. Or I hit something I didn't see.

I don't know.

Dang, bud. Hope you got it sorted. But even with the shit-sandwich you're eating, you got a daughter that is going to vet school. That is definitely something to be proud of!

Alloy rims need retorqued after about 50mi. I didn't know that and lost a rear tire on my truck with a camper, car trailer with my cj5 doing 70 on I 90. Felt a vibration and suddenly the driver's rear dropped. While I'm processing what happened my wheel passed me. It took a lot of maneuvering to bring it to a stop without rolling it. Les Shwab paid for the repairs. I never trust anyone else to properly torque my wheels anymore. I always check.

What's the pilots old saying, Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing?

I bought a tool to pull the studs through. The local guy helping us, ended up knowing some of my wife's relatives. Small world.

He's a retired mechanic.

I made it back home with no incident. I took a back highway to stay off the interstate on a busy holiday. Highway 30 runs parallel to I-80 and was a good choice given the wind today.
