What did you do to your TJ today?

After a really great with day @Hog ..visualizing success as usual 🤣..... We got his rock bars on and I got my 2004 dialed in- Some brake noise and new plugs. Spark plugs are funny- You’re sure you don’t need some until you put a set in, then wow.

After that my wife and I went to the Alabama Jubilee balloon festival- It was really one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen- Right until they took the Tweety Bird balloon down. Boy It was sooo over then.

Next year I’m going to bring a 22 caliber rifle with rat shot.
Those look great for target practice.

I have said this before and still mean it- get to know a forum member. Becoming friends with @Hog has been a bright spot in my life these past few years.

You and @Hog Didn't take a ride in that rainbow balloon did y'all???? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I want to do that alternator mod.all those electrical cable mods actually🇺🇲

I think we both have 97s and the alternator was a little confusing to me at first re the connections, but it turned out the newer model connections worked just fine, especially if you are building new cables as part of the project. I ended up using a custom 240amp alternator from Romaine electric in Portland because I didn't think a Durango unit would work. However, I think it actually would've been fine.

Is this alternator in a durango case?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think its the same. I had a Durango alternator which I took back. I recall it looking like the new one on the right but I didn't take a picture (old 97 unit is on the left).

Went for a nice Sunday drive and had a Peppered steak pie 🥧 to relax with.

Very strong winds and the tail end of a storm last night made for some dramatic scenery on the West coast. (Yes the sand is Black its eroded volcanic rock...it has a very high Iron content so high you can it up with a magnet)

Beautiful scenery….makes me want to go on a jeep ride!

Adding to last weekend’s oil leak maintenance (oil pan gasket and R.M.S.), I replaced the valve cover gasket this morning. Hot tip for those with the late-model plastic wire conduit on the driver-side of the head and over the top of the rear end of the valve cover:

Remove the wire harness from those conduits. There are tabs to release the two halves, and if it’s never been removed, you’ll have to cut the tape on the driver-side end of the one going over the cover. Once that is done, the harness is way more flexible to finagle the cover in and out!

This afternoon and tomorrow’s work list is short - finish re-installing the exhaust I had to cut out last weekend.

This twisted, coated wire was done to test a theory
on wind noise- sure enough, it works-they do this on some tower wires for that reason.

I use these on my truck ladder racks to lash loads down, going to get 4 black for the rack.

I’m happy with this 2004. It’s tight, quiet and drives excellent. Going to be a fun one. It should see some kayak trips this summer.

Thanks...and glad to hear it....get out and explore, you have all of Spring and Summer in front of you.
I love checking out the map and thinking 'I've never been there before' prep the TJ and just go.
