Work from home LJ

This mornings project was switching insurance carriers. Progressive had been aggressively raising our rates and wouldnt cover the Jeep for anything close to fair value. Throw lockers, savvy/currie parts galore and you're way off on value.

I know mods dont increase in value, but building a replacement LJ like mine costs way more than 12k value they assigned. And thats with me doing all the work. You cant even buy an LJ in as good of shape as mine for that.

So, now the Jeep is insured (as of June 4th) with Hagerty with a very generous fair value + cherished salvage policy and our Pilot/Truck insured with Geico. Better coverage for less total $$$.

I previously took risk on difference between value of jeep and "value" Progressive assigned. Dont have to do that anymore.

I too have a policy with Hagerty but mine is for a classic car. You might want to double check their eligibility guidelines concerning usage, or if your Jeep gets driven very often. They have it worded in a way that might disqualify you from everyday driving situations...

It’s a bit of a joke how little I drive working from home. My wife has a very nice Honda Pilot we drive 99% of the time. Both jeep/truck would be lucky to see 2k miles a year.

On paper it makes no financial sense for me to have these vehicles with how little I drive, but it’s a hobby.

I should be fine.

Had few things come up and didn’t get to work on this much.

Here’s where I’m at currently. This is try 2. First was way shallow. Added .02 and ended up here.

LP Dana 30. BL is at 8.5ish.

Thoughts from anyone who actually knows what they are doing?

You're deep. Try taking out 10 thou and see what it does. If it goes shallow like I think it will then you will be bracketed and can adjust from there👍

heres where at now. This is around 41 thou. For reference the picture above was at 50 thou.

Checking my understanding here - I think this pattern is bad because the line on the root of drive side.

The coast side doesnt look horrible, its a bit off center from toe to heel but pattern looks mostly centered vertically?

@hosejockey61 start a beer tab and send me the bill

Sorry I was out chasing gators on the golf course all day! Still a tad bit deep. Drop 3ish thou and check.

This is about .039. Backlash is just at .006.

Looks quite a bit better to me? I probably should go to .037/.038

I tried .038 and didn’t get much difference. I’ll try .037 in morning. One of those two will work.

by my math I owe you a few cases of beer by now @hosejockey61

Haha.... I just realized you're in Charlotte and that's where I'm at right now. Kiawah Island but was downtown yesterday.

Edit. I'm in Charleston

I live about a mile from panthers stadium (wife works at nearby hospital). downtown is good for traffic and that’s about it 🤣

Kiawah is great. Good spot for 18

This is .0387ish. The picture above at .039 was on high side of .039. This is on high side of .038. Was trying to move just tiny bit.

BL is about the same.

coast looks better. It’s not off end of tooth but I don’t like this red circled area.

Any ideas why this happens? It’s a single tho difference.

Remind me what axle this is. Pull the locker, clean the bearing seats again, reinstall and make sure it's seated properly. If you aren't, make sure to put the bearing caps on snug before running a pattern. To me that's a lot of difference for a 1 thou change. I'm traveling today so hopefully someone else can chime in if I'm out of WiFi range.

It’s a LP Dana 30. I’ll clean it up and make sure everything is seated and re-run pattern.

Caps are on and snug w drill with clutch
