Finally got a chance to do an oil change in the Jeep. I have checked the oil level and its always looked good. I have been busy with other parts of the Jeep for the past few weeks. It has not left the driveway for more than 5 minutes at a time. So, I have not driven it much. The only long drive is when I drove it from 2 hours away. Anywho, I drained the engine oil. measured it. It only had 2.5 quarts of oil in it! it should be 5 QT for 2.5L 2000 TJ.It makes me mad that it was low and I am confused at how the dipstick was showing it was full.
I hope the engine is fine! It has been driving fine. I put in 5W30 Pennzoil Full Synthetic for high mileage in it with WIX filter. Definitely one of those, I am glad I got it done!

This is from a 2004 TJ Manual. I did not measure the amount in the filter, I assume a few extra ounces. It had a smaller Valvoline filter.

That's for the later model 2.4, for your 2.5 it should be 4 quarts. I know because I used to have a 4 popper and it would just about fill a milk gallon jug (4 quarts) when it was time to recycle. Always check your oil cold on a flat level, never hot or on a incline.
