What did you do to your TJ today?

Trash scouting...got asbestos samples on this one so we can dismantle and dispose. Nice having the Forest Service pay mileage scouting for trash in my Jeep...

Short answer yes. That's a pickup camper.

I think we've removed over 30 campers/caravans from the woods around my house.

Lots of videos of trash pickups on my YouTube channel. For some reason they're not nearly as popular as getting my Jeep stuck. That or YouTube's algorithm can't figure out where to put my chainsaw/crosscut trail clearing, volunteer trash pickup and Jeep adventure channel.

Do you spend much time in axle deep water much?

That is the point that I did not. However, breather tube was not connected to breather hole on the Dana 30 diff (it is on top of it). Could be that water got into when driving through deep puddles here in Houston. All it takes is strong splash to reach the breather hole on the diff

I can almost understand somebody just dropping a bag out the window because they can’t be bothered taking it to a trash bin but a whole camper !!! 🤬

Campers/caravans tend to have a downward evolution here in the states. The problem and the solution are tough environmental and worker protection laws.
Basically to properly dispose of an old, unwanted and unserviceable RV you need an asbestos test, mold, lead and then the gas canisters, fridge and appliances need removed. All of that runs around $4 to $6k if there's nothing found... asbestos was used until 2004 in roof mastic on campers here.
So... people either directly abandon or give away campers on Craigslist and FB marketplace or through homeless outreach services. Problem is they're just about trashed.
We see them hauled out to the woods in the summer and then abandoned in the fall when the rains start and the roof leaks everywhere.
Lots of them are full of needles and drug paraphernalia. Some of them are meth cook sites.
There's no easy solution to the problem. I've been advocating a can't say no policy to our local dump...that they can't turn away trash from anyone because it just ends up in the woods outside of town. But that's up to the politicians.
What I can do...and what all of you can do is volunteer to pick up trash. Or at the very least demonstrate and advocate good behavior. It keeps our forests open and available for Jeep adventures and other fun.
The Forest Service here in the US has become a giant fire fighting outfit. All the political pressure is on them to put out fires. No money left for enforcement. We have one law enforcement officer for the entire 694 square miles. I see him every couple of months.
Our community came together and we organized a group called Friends of Fall Creek Watershed and got some cooperation agreements signed with the FS...they basically reimburse us for dump fees and mileage. We got certified as asbestos inspectors...the local test lab wanted $5k for one test. We can now do it for around $200 to $400.
Sorry for the long answer... hopefully we can keep the forest open for everyone!

This fridge was full of three month old food that had exploded inside the packaging. I can still smell it.

I'm thinking of moving to your fine state.

Yeah we let folks roam free around here.

I'd be camping in the woods. Plenty of spots close to town will cell service looking out over a bluff

Check out highway58herald.org - Oakridge is a pretty nice place to be. It's Bend before it went full Sun Valley. That little newspaper is looking for staff and volunteers...Gannet is letting all our local papers die.

I decided to roll my own YouTube channel...less conflict of interest with my day job.

Off to make a flag nut for my lower front driver control arm...no idea where it fell off...and I need to fix my awful Tuffy glove box...that thing is rattling me to insanity.

I replaced the battery with an Interstate from Costco. I really need to clean up some of my wiring. I think I will start with some new upgraded cables from JEEPCABLES.COM A little pricey but isn’t everything nowadays? Has anyone here used them?
Thanks,

I bought the 4GA and have them sitting on my work bench. Going on some time this summer

Not really to the TJ, but more of the TJ.

Messed around with some exaggerated HDR-like photo editing of pictures I took yesterday at my local camping/mild wheeling spot:

I actually like these editing styles better with a more dramatic sky like this one I took last week. I liked this one so much, I had to make it my profile pic.

New to me P/S pump (70k takeoff), pulley, and the gates belt kit (belt, tensioner, idler pulley) only mistake was putting the old idler dust cover back on, ran it for about 30sec before I realized it wasn’t spinning. Some scuffing on the pulley/belt but safe to assume no damage in that short of time?

Edited Jeep videos and then started prepping for fire defense...1/4 mile northwest of us a 25 acre brush fire broke out. They had nine engines, a dozer and helicopters on it quick. But I was prepping to defend (sprinklers running and chainsaw/pulaski/tractor) and evacuate. 5 now 6 fires in 7 years...this one was the second closest.
