What did you do to your TJ today?

Working on a wiring project today. Needed some lights on my hitch mounted cargo hauler. When it’s filled up you can’t see the lights on the rear of the jeep so I installed some trailer lights onto it. Welded a couple brackets onto it and cut out the old aftermarket harness and also found a whole what seems to be intact Mopar trailer light harness if anyone could have a use for it. I had already cut the aftermarket stuff out and knew how to hook it up. The Mopar one has two pigtails plus the 4 blade connector for trailer lights. Not sure how it plugs in because it was just zip tied to the underside of the rear bumper and plugged into nothing.

Where is that bastard hiding? Mine needs to die

2 screw pull the lower panel- reach up on the backside of instrument cluster- left side about 3/4 of the way up there is an indentation. i cycled the key couple of times to find the right indention with my index finger. Do what you got to do... I figured i deaden the sound by 40% with 5-10 minutes invested.

I couldn't wait for Savvy corner armor to be available, so I took advantage of Genright's Memorial Day Free Shipping deal to get corners. Took off Friday and worked all day Friday, Saturday, and today on them. They're going to the painter on Wednesday:

I'm still waiting for Savvy rock sliders to be available for order, so for now, I have a weak spot at the front of the wheel wells. Here are some observations/notes regarding the Genright corners (I should note that these were standard LJ corners, with the wheel wells, gas filler, and brake light holes pre-cut):
  1. They don't provide enough mounting holes. I ended up adding a good number of them (I lost count, but it was about a dozen).
  2. General fit was pretty good, but not perfect (perfection seems a lofty goal for these, though).
  3. The gas filler hole needed some "oblonging", along with the mounting holes. I also needed to add a hole for the plastic nub on the bottom of the stock plastic filler trim piece (it was added after the picture above).
  4. I'm keeping my stock flares, and the holes weren't provided. I marked them with a scribe from the backside to get them in the perfect position.
  5. I'm also keeping the stock license plate mount, and I did the same for those holes, which weren't provided.
  6. The tailgate hinge bolt holes needed slotting - they were just a hair off.
  7. The wheel wells were pretty far off. Because I'm using the stock flares, I had to trim the entire wheel cutout. I took off beween 50 and 250 thousandths to get the flares to fit. Again, I used a scribe from backside to get them to match the body line.
  8. The Genright steel braces are inadequate (I'll have to sell them). I've ordered some 1.75" x .375" aluminum strapping to make my own braces.
  9. Because the flares are held on with nutserts at the two lowest points, front and rear, I spotfaced the inside of the corners to clear the protruding sheet metal and nutserts:

Swapped out the rear RC control arms that came on the jeep for new ones from Savvy. The bolts for the upper arms wouldn't fit and I didn't have the right size drill so I just reused the old bolts. Anyone hear of these failing?

Put garvin rack on the jeep (it came with it when I bought it) to test out hauling camping totes. Will work fine, not much weight just needed more space. Also mounted a 5lb propane tank to rollcage in the rear. Fits perfectly. I have a fold down table on the rear gate to hold camp stove, so having tank on same side will be nice. Wasn't sure it would clear the big plastic piece on the rear window, but it does

The bolts will be fine. Those @jjvw approved Patagonia tires, I'm not so sure about.

Finally got back out to the garage and installed new drive lines and set the rear pinion angle. Took it for a short drive and no rear drive line vibrations so very happy about that. A bit more "wobbly / top heavy" than at stock height, but I'll deal with it for now. I still have to align the front end and straighten the steering wheel but getting closer.

37s will stabilize it
