Utah Moab June Fest 2023 Week of June 11th

Rory takes trail mater down that all the time. They've also cleared a lot of those rocks out of the way.

But, you could hook up the inch and back down if you really felt the need. You watched Jeff and I go down the one on Steel Bender which is more vertical than this one.

That is 3 vehicles a lot longer than mine lol. But yeah I guess I'll just have to figure it out when I get there. It doesn't look as bad in the pics and pictures never make things look smaller. So it's fine!!

I think the OnX and similar apps are useful for out west where there is a lot of public land with trails. In the South East and East right now, there is not a lot of public land trails mapped and it is more wheeling in dedicated parks with marked trail systems. I used GAIA for overlanding trips through the Ozarks a few times, but I still had to pull up the current NFS MVUM (Motorized Vehicle Use Map) to verify which trails were open/closed since routes could have been created in previous years with different MVUM allowances and/or the route maker did not know (or care) that they were on closed trails. As they map and document more and more of the East/South East public land areas and trails it may become more useful to me, right now I will just stick to paper.

I usually end up guiding and leading, so I am looking forward to riding in the back and not having a clue where I am going and just following!

You can take a look at my onX app it has quite a bit of info. More than I'd like to see to be honest.

Example: Knowing your name and what state you live in I can see you live near Adler, Shields and Locke.

@AMS417 and I witnessed a guy "jump" off a drop off during our last night wheel at SMORR. He just blipped the throttle in buggy and launched it. I said "did that guy just jump off that ledge", and AMS417 said, "that was the most dukes of hazard thing I ever saw out here". Then we continued down the trail like that was normal. So you always have the Beau and Luke Duke option of going down.

That is pretty freaky, since they are all my neighbors. Can you tell if my wife is sitting in the pool right now?

Found my Moab book, looks like it’s been used a bit

Well my dog watcher fell through so looks like I'm bringing this ball of energy with. Anyone got any ideas of where I can run him in the morning by the KOA? I'm gonna have to throw ball before the trail every day lol

Be sure to secure it properly in the rig.

Ouch x2.

Apart from a few business cards, some lip balm, and a stainless beer koozie, it was that trail book that caused the most ruckus during my flop. I noticed the same thing on Jeff’s.

It probably throws off the CG

Where Eagles Dare looks like it would be a cool detour to do, I'd like to see the arch. I don't really remember seeing the turnoff any of the times we've been there honestly.

Trying to imagine the PS/gold bar/gold crack "loop" in reverse, since I don't think I'd be doing rusty nail. I can't imagine how I'd get down that one big waterfall on Gold Bar Rim right at the end, if you know the one I mean.

This one. Although it doesn't look as steep in the photos as I remember it so maybe it's fine. I don't remember seeing anyone going the opposite direction before?

There’s a sign for Where Eagles Dare coming from the PS direction. It’s near the cave area. I’m not sure if there is one coming the opposite direction, but I would think so. Doesn’t matter much with the OnX app!

That big rock isn’t there at the Waterfall anymore. It is really steep. We couldn’t get up it straight on. If you are going down the left side is the easier path.

Still won't be as bad as Steel Bender
