I have an after market bumper on my Jeep. It needs some touch up around the bolt holes. What is the best paint to use to try and match the black powder coating already on it. Do they make a black spray powder coating?
It is and it is touched up with nothing more than an aerosol satin-black rattle can paint very easily. Powder coating is nothing but another form of paint.Powder coating is overrated
Well, that would defeat the whole purpose of buying it used. That would cost more than buying it brand new.Honestly your best bet is to take it off and have it sandblasted and re-powdercoted.
Unless you want to just rattle can the whole thing, you'll be able to do a decent job and I would use some kind of textured or wrinkle black, those would be closest to what you already have on there.
How much does it cost to have a bumper powdered coated? Disregard the question. I called around and basically $300 to $350. Cheaper to buy a new bumper.I work for a place that powder coats. I redid mine twice before just rattle canning it. Powder coating is overrated LOL.
That would cost me between $300 to $350. I would rather go with a rattle can first for $10 to see how that works out.Honestly your best bet is to take it off and have it sandblasted and re-powdercoted.

Should I take the rusty areas down to metal or can I paint over them?Just use a satin black rattle-can (aerosol) paint from Krylon or Rustoleum, it matches well enough for 99% of us... me included.
Rust left in place will continue to attack the steel, sand it down to bare metal first.Should I take the rusty areas down to metal or can I paint over them?
I have a bumper thread on here somewhere but could not find it..I was thinking about using this product. Thoughts?View attachment 32521
