Had a great Father's Day today exploring another section of North Cascades NP. I stopped at the Ranger Station to make sure this one road I have been dying to check out was not closed because its a heavy snow area and its gated and closed most of the year it seems. They informed me it had been closed recently but is actually opened and there's road maintenance happening on it. Anyway, drove 20 miles off pavement to see it was gated and locked off...nice, huh?
It did kind of work out, as we met another Jeeper in a TJ along the way and decided to make the best of it by exploring some other FS roads in the park. So I didn't get the incredible vistas I was looking for but still some decent ones and had a fun time. One thing I need to look into more though is my brakes, they were burning up on my way back down one of these mountains. There was some very long and steep grades that I wasn't prepared for.
