While browsing the net for a part for my Jeep, I came across this Free Extreme Terrain Parts Magazine for Jeeps. Thought I'd share for something for all yall to read. I'm not involved with them in any way, shape or form. This isn't a spam. Just passing a long something cool, I found. I filled out my name and address, described my jeep and they said I'll have my copy in 2 to 3 weeks.

I get those every so often, even though I have never signed up with or ordered anything from XT.

I got one in the mail recently and thumbed through it briefly. It seems like it's just a paper version of the website. Seems like a waste of trees to me.

The catalog from Quadratec was pretty much the same. Part of my nostalgia appreciates a good paper catalog, but at the same time, it just feels pretty pointless when you have internet access.

I remember laying on the floor at Grandma's house flipping through early-80's Sears Christmas catalogues, circling all the toys I wanted. For some reason, she kept old catalogues and I would update my wish lists every year. My concepts of time and seasonal inventories weren't very good back then.

I like having a catalog. Sometimes you find something that you didn't know you wanted. Can't always do that online.

Have you ever seen those old early 1900s tool and hardware catalogs? It's like McMaster-Carr on steroids.

I've ordered from Quadretec. Good experience with them.
Just realize that not everything in that catalog is in stock and that you can find pretty much anything in that catalog for less $$$ elsewhere.

Don't get me started on their "price match" guarantee which is nothing but a predatory policy IMHO. Their pricing is higher than other companies charge and those companies willing to sell for less up without haggling front deserve to get the sale. Quadratec wants it both ways... higher prices for the majority who don't bother to look elsewhere, but they'll steal the sale from another company risking selling it for less.

I've shopped parts and found them to be cheaper than others. And free shipping on orders over $60.00. So I wait till I need $60.00 of stuff. Other companies offer low prices and than jack you on shipping. Who would you say is better to order from?

We'll just have to agree to disagree whether Quadratec is the best source for Jeep parts or not.

When it comes to buying online, it's hard to beat Amazon. I mean, this is pretty much because they're Walmart 2.0 in that they do pretty much everything they can to keep prices low, even at the expense of their own employees. But at least when you buy through them using a link on the forums, it gives back to the community here. =)

I've had good experience with Quadratec customer support (had to return an aftermarket oil pan that didn't fit). In total I've placed maybe 5 orders from them over the years and never had a bad experience.

The further I build the less there is that Quadratec has to offer me.

A hidden gem is Northridge4x4. For being such a large store they've always taken the time to take care of me.

So true, well said. Google is your friend. I do like Extreme Terrain, they have low prices and give forum members 6% off. I dont believe Quadratec gives forum discounts, but I could be wrong.

As an example, Quadratec sells a "plug and play" replacement subwoofer for our center console, cost is $90 and quality is OEM, which is rubbish. Ask @Chris how he likes his $80 Kicker subwoofer. I love mine!

I am in Jerry's camp here and Jerry can attest that we may argue from time to time, but what he said is spot on. Check out Extreme Terrain and compare what you buy, even summit racing for some stuff, or advance auto for other stuff.

When I was a rookie at this Jeep thing, Quadratec was my go to place, but then I found these forums.

I don't care for Extreme Terrain... I only order from them when I have no other choice (like the MORryde tire carrier for instance).

The majority of what they sell is Chinese produced crap. They don't sell Savvy, Currie, GenRight, or my other go to brands.

Quadratec is stupid with their pricing as well. I generally avoid 4 Wheel Drive Parts, Extreme Terrain, and Quadratec. If it's something common, I typically get it from Amazon. If it's something specific (i.e. Savvy, Currie, etc.), then I get it from their personal website.

I will admit, Amazon has spoiled me with their prime shipping and easy returns!

The straw that broke the camel's back for me where Quadratec was concerned was when I saw the very commonly used Uniden Pro510XL CBradio in the catalog for $69.95 which commonly sold for $29.95 all over the internet. I kinda raised hell in a thread about it when I noticed a Quadratec rep was participating. A month later Quadratec dropped its price to $39.95 but it's now up to $49.95. Still way overpriced compared to other sites like Amazon who sells it for 33.95 with free shipping.
