Advice on 31X10.50R15 tires

K02's were my first choice the problem I had with them when on the trail every little tiny pebble & rock stuck in the tread and when I got on the road they came flying out like bullets at 55-70 mph. Some guy flipped me off in 3 different languages I recognized two of them. I have know doubt they are a good tire and last a long time but I ended up buying a more aggressive, self cleaning, directional tire, no regrets.
100% agree with this. Our driveway is 300 yards of crushed granite. AT’s pick them up and fling them everywhere, so no more, I buy MT’s now. I don’t care if the tread wear is worse. I’ll take it any day over the driveway going away.

Lots of great feedback about all of this. Very helpful.

One of the biggest things I worry about from some of the more aggressive tires is road noise. It’s going to be on the road more than off the road, so I want that part to be great.

Based on what I’ve read, it seems the KO2’s might be quieter on road than the Duratracs but are not quite as good off road. But many of you also have said either of them are fine on the road overall.

I wanted 33’s with a 3” lift, but decided I’d be better suited with a 2” lift and 32’s because of many of the reasons you listed. I couldn’t be happier. 32’s are 2” wider and 2” taller than stock, they were the sweet spot for me and look great. I almost settled on 31’s, but I know I wouldn’t have been nearly as happy with the look I was after. I have the 6spd with 3.73 Dana 44 and the TJ drives great, even on the highway up to 75 mph. I would not recommend larger tires without regearing if you have the 3.07 Dana 35 rear axle though, it will be a dog with the 31’s, let alone 32 or 32’s. Most 32’s are ~31.5” and most 31’s are ~30.5”, so keep that in mind and check out the actual height of the tires if you are looking for height, no matter which size you settle on.

Besides the rocks flying out I didn't have any problem with BF K02's off road. If you're looking for a good on/off road tire and want it quiet then the KO2's will probably be a good fit for you. Personally I like a little roar from the tire but that's just me.

I was running Micky Thompson 32x11.5 and destroyed one in the Nevada desert, no one in 300 miles had a 32x11.5 to fit my tj, so I wound up buying the only available m/t in winnemucca a 33x12.5 big-o brand. 31” a/t’s were also available but I didn’t want to go down size, I just replaced the other 4 with cooper stt pro m/t’s And really love them pretty quiet and I like the ride. The mileage was similar to the 32’s until I aired them down to 26# now I’ve dropped 1mpg. The coopers ride quieter than the Micky Thompson’s although I liked the sound of both brands and enjoy a bit of road noise.

Mots could I ask what wheels you are using with your 32s. I just installed a 2" lift on my 2002 TJ and wanted to stick with my factory Ravine wheels if possible and Im not sure if I'll be able to run 32x11.50 or if I'll have to use a 10.50 ?? Thanks Rick

Ravine wheels are 15x8. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/wrangler-tj-stock-specifications.71/

32” tires (e.g. BFG KO2) say they need a 7-10” rim. https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/bfgoodrich-all-terrain-t-a-ko2/p/32049

So, you should be fine in regards to the tires fitting the rims.

However, you will likely have some tire rubbing at the edges of turning since those tires are wider. I have similar rims to those with the same backspacing and 10.5” wide tires and they rub. You’ll want to either get different rims with different backspacing, wheel spacers, or put in washers to limit the amount of turning you can do.

Per others comments, depending on your gearing you may also want to do something for that.

In the same boat looking for some 31 10.50s for my 05 Willys. Want the aggressive look so I am looking at Cooper ST Maxx, DTs, or the KO2s.....

Running 33-12.50, 17" Nitto Mud Grapplers with 2" lift, 4.0, 5 Speed. Love the aggressive look, definitely has road noise, but I personally enjoy and expect some road noise with a Jeep. Impressed with even wear so far, about 18K on them now. You will sacrifice power and mileage with these. My Jeep is not a daily driver, so I am not to concerned.

I've got 31x10.5 Duratracs on my Jeep right now, so far got about 15k on them, and they've been nothing but amazing for me. I'd definitely recommend them.

An update: I went with BFG KO2's. However, I got 33 x 10.5 instead of 31 x 10.5. It just wasn't going to be look I wanted with those smaller tires.

Creakydoor, it looks good. I think you will be pleased with them.

FWIW, I've got about 15K on my 33x10.5 KO2s, and I've been VERY happy with them for the middling wheeling I do. I rotate all five every oil change, and they're wearing well and evenly. And for the most part I've been able to keep up with the KM2s and Duratracs in the club, so far...

My previous experience was with Grabber AT2s (30x9.5), and it is another AT tire I could highly recommend. I got over 60K miles on them before I lifted and went to 33s. The newer Grabber ATX looks like it is comparable to the KO2.
