'98 Sahara build: "Staying the Course"

That's another idea right out of my ol' noggin. I had an idea to do something plaid in the center of my seats too. Found an old mini Cooper that I wanted to pattern. I say DO IT!

I spoke with an independent upholstery shop this evening regarding having the seats done in both my wife's XJ and my TJ. Turns out it's a gal who has a small shop not more than a few blocks from my house. She's having a larger shop built, as she's outgrowing the one she's in. Anyway, I'm taking the wife's rig in Thursday or Friday for an estimate. I have some plaid fabric samples coming, as well. Looking forward to seeing what can be done. :)

I say do it Squatch.... I think it would look good! Make it your own.
I've pretty much made up my mind that it's happening. Unless the cost is outrageous, it's something I very much want to do. The outer sections of the seats are in good shape, so it may just require the top sections (inserts) be done. I'll see what the gal says. :)

Took the wife's XJ in for an estimate on getting the seats reupholstered. It came in only $100 more than I thought it would be, so I'm good with that. Two-person shop. Saw some of her work, and I was impressed. I'm still waiting for the samples to come in, and then I'll show those to the gal. She's pretty booked through October, but November is wide open. So, unless something drastically changes between now and then, I'll have her do the XJ's seats first, and if I'm completely satisfied with her work and the experience, I'll have her do the TJ's, as well.

Plaid. Who'd a thunk it? o_O

Just wanted to throw these pics somewhere. Now here's something you don't see everyday...

I guess the JK owners weren’t around when the TJ was still sold at Jeep dealers or you would have seen these as much as you see the angry grills. Ha

Proud to be a TJ owner, and proud us TJ owners didnt buy into those types of mods back in the day.

What did it come in at? I'm curious since eventually I'd like to have my seats redone.
