Love what they have done with the rear seats and how the tailgate opens. I kind of like the looks as well. Interiors are no worse than JK/JLs. I give it a thumbs up!

I don't like any of those new Mini Coopers. The only ones I like are the old school ones!

This thing isn't bad, but unless I can take the top fully off and the doors... well you know!

Ok...so this looks exactly like a renegade lol. Isn’t bad?? JK bashing day and night and this isn’t bad? Come on hahaha.

Well, it’s not as bad as it could be... I would never own it, not in a million years. I would own ANY generation of Wrangler over this.

But, still not the worst thing I’ve seen. I’ve seen some pretty bizarre looking Asian market vehicles.

I kind of like it, the video was interesting, are they bringing it to the states? Curious how it’ll catch on.
I would buy one if I lived in Japan. Maybe it's not as fun as a Jeep, but I bet it's well made and super reliable.

The Jimny would actually be the Suzuki Samurai in the North American market, but we haven't seen those here since the late 90s. Suzuki pulled out of the market because their sales were low and they didn't want to deal with the safety regulations.

The great thing about this Jimny is that it has live axles front and rear. Are there any other contemporary vehicles in this size and wheelbase with live axles other than the Jeep?

Can't think of anything else. Even the Lada Niva has independent front suspension.

Sold all over the world, except in the U.S.A.
Regulations and copyright laws are why the wrangler has no real competition.

Such a shame. I really wish we could get the good Landcruisers (not what Toyota sells in the US, I'm taking about the FJ70) and vehicles like this Jimny. I really don't understand why the FJ70 is not sold here.

That's true. Hard to find solid axles these days front and rear... unless it's a full size truck.

U.S. Automakers were trying hard to get the Suzuki Samurai to fail the roll over test. I think they were worried about the competition. When it passed the speed for the roll over test....they made it go faster and faster until it did roll over so they could stop them from importing them. BS if you ask me.

And those trucks are so massive even for a good number of people who do use them. The way things are going in the new Jeep world, I really wouldn't be surprised if FCA introduces a IFS Jeep in the next gen, touting comfort as a key selling point. I'm still amazed they managed to sell 2WD JKs at all. They sold a decent bit as far as I know. In that sense, I'm all for vehicles like FJ70 and the Jimny being sold here and light a fire in FCA's you know what.

Eventually they'll discontinue the 2-door Wrangler I'm sure. They don't sell enough of them anymore to make it worth it to them. Maybe they'll continue it as a special off-road model, but somehow I doubt it. The sales for them are all in the 4-door models.

I wouldn't be shocked if IFS happens eventually too. Who knows... all I do know is that the TJ really and truly is the last of the good ones IMHO!

saw this a few weeks back and was suprised that somebody else is still making vehicles with corners and right angles, while all other companies seem determined to rip the heart and soul out of their latest vehicles designs

It sounds like a decent enough SUV, but I'm not a fan of it, personally. I think it looks too similar to a Scion xb and it doesn't even have a removable top.

I don't know if it's the color or the perspective or the lack of a reference for a size scale or what, but man, that photo makes it look like a toy car.
