1984 CJ for sale

Oh wow...I LIKE that..... that price is cheap, it would go for close to 40k out here (27.5K in USD)

Aside from that front bumper, I dig it.

For the price, I have to assume it’s rusted out underneath and sprayed over.
yeah the front bumper isn't even on straight :nut: but a bumper swap out is an easy fix...if there is rust however that's a different story

That is pretty nice, but I'd want to check it out in person. That is on the high side of the CJ market, from what I've seen. There is enough weirdness in those pictures to make me think that's it's hiding something. ALL CJ's will have some skeletons in their closet at this point... But that one looks like it has a twisted frame... Big Skelton!

"Chicago Motor Cars" ?

I grew up about an hour away from Chicago and rust took my CJ5 when it was still just a young thing. I would not buy a car from there unless I could thoroughly inspect it, and even then I would still be suspicious. Chris is probably right, new paint on top, rust underneath.

Come on out to sunny California - there are lots of rust-free CJ5 and CJ7s still running around for 1/2 the price they're asking for that thing.

All the stuff they sell isn’t originally from Chicago...I’m sure many would know that but I guess I need to throw that out there. It may be rusted, but maybe it’s not. Def would inspect any vehicle before its bought...that should be an unwritten law. Cali still takes a backseat to sunny AZ for best jeep surplus IMO.

No argument there, AZ is sunny AND dry, perfect for preserving old cars.

Im sorry but it is not worth 8k. Way to many CJs still running around. Just because it was painted doesn't make it a 18k jeep.

Im willing to bet a box of doughnuts that the odometer has flipped at least one.

Maybe if it had the ALL oem equipment and had documents or evidence that it truly had 90k miles you could argue for more.

Just an example

It’s a specialty dealer so it’s gonna be high. As for rust I highly doubt it has any. There’s a carfax in the listing, and it also has a v8 conversion. Somebody will buy it.

As for the mileage inconsistency some dumbass at the DMV added a zero lol

Yeah, it seems odd that a Jeep that spent it's entire life in Florida suddenly appears at a dealer in Chicago. Flood damaged vehicle that was auctioned off?

That's one fine looking machine, there.

I'd like to know what that thing ends up selling for. For the most part it looks pretty good but most isn't everything.

The lower windshield frame is missing the driver side defroster duct, the cover for the wiper motor and the plastic plugs. The wiper motor wiring shouldn't be anywhere near that visible, it should disappear directly behind that motor. If all that was correct I could handle the dash pad missing .

Under the hood they seem to not really care about the various pieces that should have been masked off before painting. Add to that, the brake booster, master cylinder and steering column don't seem to be any better than before the paint job.

I also think they need a spacer behind the cooling fan so it would be far enough away from the fan belt to be mounted correctly. I'm pretty sure it's on backwards.
