They really dropped the ball on Game of Thrones season 8

Not going to lie, last night was kind of crap. This show is frustrating, you mean to tell me Dany wiped out the Iron fleet, all the scorpions, the golden company, etc., without a scratch but couldn't do the same in Winterfell?
I was actually enjoying most of it until...the ease of how the took over KL. Whatever, I'm still going to watch the final episode.

Last night was okay at best. Better than the rest of the episodes in the series.

Kind of interesting, how Cersei goes out with everything figuratively and literally falling down on her.

My biggest criticism overall, is how Dany loses a dragon, with 3 accurate miracle shots, in a clear day.... from a moving fleet she didnt see 2000 feet up.

That same fleet, at anchor, and a castle bristling with scorpian/ballista, cant hit shit.

Last night was definitely the best episode of this lackluster season for sure. I actually quite like how it went down to be honest. Sure, there were some issues, but in all, I think episode 5 was satisfying.

I didn't think Arya would make it out alive (I thought she was going to be the one to kill Cersei), but it looks like she might actually come out of the show alive. She still hasn't killed someone with green eyes yet though, so my guess is that she is going to kill Dany. I'd almost bet on it.

My next guess is that Sansa will take the Iron Throne, as Jon clearly has no interest in it, and I think that the show wants to put a female on the throne.

I wonder what will happen with the whole Tyrion / Bron thing.

I agree. Just... the inconsistencies are enough to drive one nuts!

This show needed another 2 seasons to flesh out everything they're trying to cram-jam-pack into 6 episodes.

A longer fight against the Night King, fighting a rearguard action while they try and make their way to Kings Landing or somewhere to make their final stand. Defeat the Night King (or not) and then fight the same rearguard battle against treacherous Cersi trying to make hay and wipe out the Northern Army while it's weakest after the battle against the Night King. The stragglers left of the Northern Army make it back to Winterfell and make their stand against Cersi.

It just felt anti-climactic for the Night King to be dealt with in a single episode after years and years of buildup. I think within my narrative above there are numerous chances for individual story lines to be dealt with. We could still have Cleganebowl (heck, parts one and two if wanted), Arya could use her Nameless skills to infiltrate Cersi's Army and wreak havoc, John and Dany could keep doing whatever they're doing, we could much better flesh out the whole John or Dany on the throne plot-line...

It just feels so rushed.

Episode 5 was arguably the best of season 8 for sure. Not great, but considering the rest of the season it was at least a decent stand alone episode. I'm going to guess that Sansa ends up on the throne when all is said and done. Just my hunch.
Dani will die a relatively inglorious death, being squished by Drogon as he collapses after flying around all damn day burning up Kings Landing.
John will ultimately ride Drogon up to Winterfell and use him as a mascot in his new Heating and Air Conditioning business he will set up to provide him with a retirement income since soldiering doesn't have a huge future in it and he's already burnt too many bridges with the Knights Watch.
No?
Would that be any more implausible than what has transpired thus far? :)

Prediction:

Jon stabs dany again.. this time with a dagger.

Tyrion and sansa setup a government.. but sansa takes it for herself or has Bran as king while she pulls strings. Literally, Cuz bran is a talking tree at this point.

Jon goes north and pets ghost.. because he forgot to pet ghost goodbye in episode 4.

I read at least one of the books. Maybe more. And man was it hard to follow. So many characters. And so many deaths. But great characters. I really enjoyed it.

I liked last night's episode. But now that Chris mentions it. Some things are being wrapped up awful suddenly. With little to no story surrounding it. It could have been another season.

But man last night felt like I'd watched a full length movie. But Dany going rogue was to much of a character change to quickly. I think Arya is going to kill Dany. I thought that last night at the end of the episode. Then the starks take their rightful place on the throne.

I really think they missed a big scene by not killing Cersei more violently. I've been waiting season upon season for this. lol.

It says something about a show that it's being talked about on a damn Jeep forum. It really has penetrated deep into our society at this point. What a phenomenon.

I think this kinda sums it all up in one visual... 😎😎

I only had one comment. We learned that a pissed off female on a pet dragon can fuck some shit up, and not a little bit of shit either. We learned the exact meaning of a scorched earth response to untenable positions and intolerable actions.

That was pretty cool when the dragon finally spoke to Jon Snow, offering him wise council. And then Jon made the dragon his Hand of the King. Great ending!

Did Sean Connery voice the dragon? :ROFLMAO:

I read the first 4 books and watched the first seven seasons...but I just kinda lost interest. I didn't even renew HBO to watch this season and while I was avoiding spoilers, I finally just decided that it didn't seem worth it. The show had been going downhill and I had heard really bad things about this final season. After hearing about how quickly it ended everything, I don't feel like I missed much (although, I'll probably watch the season eventually if I ever get free access to it).

Any sort of show/story with a long running is always a very risky bet. With books, you risk having the author die before the series is finished and with TV shows, you're more likely to have the show runs shorter or longer than it should because of how much money they think they can make.

The best stuff is when you can find stories that are relatively self-contained that share a universe with multiple, related plots. This is why I think the Marvel Universe has done so well. I mean, something like that can have some of their movies be mediocre or even bomb and not ruin the entire franchise.

Speaking of, for anyone that likes Game of Thrones and is looking for a good read, I'd suggest The Lies of Locke Lamora (the first book of the Gentleman Bastard series). It's a good, gritty fantasy book that is part of a series, but each book is its own self-contained plot, so even if the author never finishes the series, you can still each story on its own, although I still think the first book is the best.

Ha, people are pissed!

I don't blame them. This season is a huge letdown with how rushed they made it. It definitely should have been two more seasons in my opinion.
That is absurd. It always amuses me when folks think they have the power if enough of them bitch about something to change it. I signed a petition to repeal our dumbass muffler law. Now I get notifications of more petitions to sign. One of them was to force UPS to put air conditioning in the delivery trucks. Really, you think you can pull that one off while totally ignoring the obvious? What a bunch of idiots.

At least the creator of the petition knows that

"I haven’t heard from anyone HBO-related. I don’t think people can reasonably expect HBO to completely remake the season, or any part of this particular series (keep in mind the prequel spinoffs). It costs a fortune to shoot one episode, and I think most signers understand that. Will HBO lose gobs of money over this? Eh probably not. As Heath Ledger’s Joker once said, “It’s not about the money, it’s about sending a message.” And I think this message is one of frustration and disappointment at its core. "
