Things stopped, then started again

Yesterday, I start up the Jeep, and all of a sudden, the A/C blower stops, radio stops (clock disappears), and passenger airbag light comes on in the dash. Drove to store. Drove home from store, and just about home, everything comes back on again, and airbag light goes off.

Huh? I thought, fuse, but those things aren't on the same fuse.

Help. I'm trying NOT to take it in to the mechanic because we're moving in June and don't have a ton of spare cash. BUT we have to drive her 1900 miles to move. Oy.

Any ideas strike you as what this might be?

Did it happen once and not happen again since then?

I could chalk it up to a random glitch (Jeeps are known for funky electrical systems, the older ones at least) if that's the case.

I haven't driven it yet today.

Can replacing the fuses with new ones harm anything? I was thinking of doing that just as a preventative.

That won't hurt anything but it won't help either. Is the battery ok? Cable and connections super clean and tight? Sounds almost like some kind of loose connection.

The the A/C blower, the radio, and passenger airbag itself (not referring to the light) are all in the dashboard. I'm gonna guess it's a loose ground.

Was there a front seat passenger with you when this happened? My son stopped his girlfriend's Ford Ranger from running with his size 14 boots once. Somehow they were lucky enough to figure out exactly what happened in less than an hour on the side of the road.

Well, I had the no A/C and airbag light on. It was my ignition switch. I replaced that and all was well. If you have a hard top, it's either the wipers or rear defroster that wont work either.

Quick test is if it happens again, jiggle the key in the ignition while it's running. Sometimes you get those items to come back on. If that's the case, you have your culprit.

My ignition actuator switch is on its way out. If I don’t turn it exactly in the right position, funny things happen. No turn signals, radios off and such.
