Class action suit

Welp, jeep had it coming.

The more expensive/refined a product gets, the more discerning is the customer.

If this case wins... good bye wrangler solid axles... hello wrangler IFS.

I saw this reported yesterday and I wasn't the slightest bit surprised. It will be interesting, especially since I have 2016 JK. Too many soccer moms are buying JKU's for looks and status...now they will demand that the Wrangler should conform to be how "they" think it should be. Maybe they should come out with a "Snowflake Wrangler" or a "Cream Puff Wrangler" model with IFS for these people.

My guess is that this probably won't pan out to much of anything. Engineers will explain how solid axles work and behave and to why they are designed in this way for offroading. FCA will advise consumers to buy something different, like a Cherokee or Grand Cherokee, if they don't like the ride and behavior of a solid axle.

I have experienced death wobble in a tj, where’s my class action law suit? I have a solid axle too
You don't count. Your just a TJ owning scrub that has no car payment, therefore, you are entitled to nothing except a sincere apology and a,,, "have a nice day". :censored:

I thought about posting this when I saw it yesterday. The original article states that FCA hasn't been served with the lawsuit do they can't comment. So I decided to wait until the suit actually got processed and served. As it stands it sounded like sensational news. Does the death wobble exist under stock conditions?

Yeah, I posted something about this months back. It's been going on for quite a while now, not sure why it's just making the news now (or again?).

Your new wrangler is going to come with a big warning sticker on it now saying it may cause cancer in the state of California
It already does...prop 65 baby

Just curious . . .
Are folks experiencing the 'death wobble' in a bone stock front end?
No oversize rubber, no wheel spacers, OEM rims, stock front suspension, etc.

Short answer: yes. I know of two people that are local to me that drive totally stock vehicles, and both of them had a legit case of death wobble. Typical onset, symptoms, etc, and both with comparatively few miles on the chassis. Both went back to the same dealership, and both were eventually traced to "something loose in the front end." I didn't get any specifics, so I can't comment on whether or not that was accurate information...but - again - these incidents were on completely stock, essentially "new" rigs.

I actually had a couple isolated incidents of DW in my completely stock TJ Rubicon at about 46k miles.
It would only occur at about 38 mph and usually only after running washboarded asphalt or hitting a large pothole. I’d ruling the washboard, develop a resonant oscillation in the front that would only get worse once I hit smooth pavement. Any faster and I could hit the same bumps with no issue. Had to drop to 10 mph to get it to stop. Didn’t try to fight it because I felt like I would break my wrists.

I used a certain band-aid “fix” with the expectation that I intend to replace 100% of the suspension and steering in the next year or so. Never had an issue since, but I’ve been keeping an eye on it

And this is why I will never move to California. All the stuff I like to do falls under that. I live in Kansas where none of this is hazardous. Must be the air in Ca.?
