PSC reservoir mounting tips

Can anyone post some pics how they mounted their PSC reservoir? I'm a bit confused. I understand it needs to be above the pump with the feed line as short as possible. Trying to understand how to mount it above the pump with the bracket supplied.

Did the steering box last weekend, decided to go for the pump/reservoir and splash valve as well. Steering is a bit stiff with the stock pump.

For the 03 we typically a piece of steel or aluminum angle and cut that to the width of the back of the reservoir. Drill matching holes. Be careful of the bolt length going into the reservoir.

That is about where they all wind up. Drill the other leg of the angle and bolt through the fender.
I loosely attach both fittings to the pump and reservoir. Then I put the hose in line with them to see how the angle and length of the hose are going to wind up so there are no kinks. Typically that is a 90 at the reservoir and a 45 at the pump. The hose will shrink by 1/2" in length or so when you push it on the fittings, so take that into account or mount the reservoir after you hook up the feed line.

I don't like the master cylinder bracket, don't like the length of the feed hose needed to make it work and have never used one. Others do, I don't.

Well it's in, ended up using the bracket. Not sure if I like this location, will probably fab a bracket to mount to the fender and try and get it closer to the pump. I think I got it as high as I can, with enough room for the 90 elbow fitting for the pressure release valve to clear the hood. Cooler will have to wait for another day, since I realized this morning I accidentally ordered the transmission cooler. Oops.

First test drive put a big smile on my face. It's been a long time since this Jeep has had good steering.

Where did you get the hose clamps and why did you use them?

They came with the pump/reservoir so I assumed I needed them.
That's new then. I've installed hundreds of push lock fittings without clamps. I've started to see some band clamps being used but never worm drive. I've also seen reference to not using clamps with the higher end hose so it gets a bit confusing. I've never had PSC send me clamps to use with any push lock hose.

Yea once I squeezed the hose onto the fitting they were near impossible to get off. Never used push lock fittings before. Should I remove the clamps?

If they sent them, I would keep them in place. They may have gone to a different hose that needs a clamp. I use Aeroquip socketless hose without clamps and the last spec I recall reading is that is good for 400 psi.
 
I would hate to start a new tread for this issue but now that I've been able to drive the Jeep for a day and compare, steering feels pretty heavy, and return to center seems to be affected. I figured with the new pump it would feel much smoother but it seems to have more resistance when turning the wheel compared to the stock zf box I just took out. I've searched and come across a few other threads of people having similar issues. Is there a "break in" period for these boxes?

Blaine do you by chance have another picture or 2 of how you mount the reservoir for the 03? I'm going to tackle this Saturday and move my reservoir closer to the pump and shorten up the feed hose. Looks like it's going to be a tight fit next to my wiper fluid tank. I can hear a slight hum when driving which I'm thinking might be the pump not getting enough fluid?

We move the cruise control servo and put it there. Set the reservoir flat on the fender, run a piece of angle off the back side down to the fender.

I'm finishing up my own PSC install. Is there a need to add the PSC anti-splash vent when installing the reservoir? If so, does it matter where it gets installed, i.e. does it need to be higher or lower than the reservoir cap?

I install them. They are a positive pressure check valve. I mount them to the firewall beside the booster. I use them because I don't like the fluid drips out the end of the vent hose and I've never taken the time to build a small catch can with recovery. That basically consists of a small bottle, the cap has a tight fitting hole for the vent hose and a small hole for the vent. The hose goes into the bottle all the way to the bottom in hopes that cool down and the resultant vacuum will pull fluid back into the reservoir. PSC's piece is easier for me.
