Need some 'family' input - sorta long winded, though

Good luck man. We have spoke a few times and if I could, I’d buy your TJ and keep it for you if you ever change your mind.

Anyway, here is a little inspiration for a T4R for you. Our family enjoyed a little camping trip. We are heading out on a 11 day camping/overland trip next month with both this rig and the TJ. Nothing hardcore but scenic and fun.

I just spent a few days with an old buddy who has a '10 T4R. He really likes it on the road, which is basically all he uses it for. He also has a '98 4Runner that is his daily driver around town. He says he prefers the smaller one for the city, as it is a manual with a turbo. 235k miles and still going...

Did you buy your T4R new?

I had no idea what T4R stood for until I saw the pic, lol! What you need is a jeep that needs a problem solved to keep you interested. So.......I have just the TJ for you. Trade, plus some cash your way maybe? I kid......maybe.

Ha! The small issues I've had, and the immense potential for more, is what is nudging me away from a TJ. I don't need a challenge, I need a solution.

We did. Been a big Toyota family, it’s a ‘16 Trail (now called TRD Off-road) premium. She loves it! Its a great compromise compared to the smaller 3rd gen like your buddies 98’ and say, a Chevy Tahoe.

Last of the mid size body on frame SUV’s left and a solid drive train.

I drove a '17 the other day, it was really nice. Just drove it. I'm holding off on any decisions until I see if the TJR sells.

You really can't go wrong with toyota. I have 2 2005 scion xb's. The cheapest of the cheap Toyota's. My wife's seems to have been a flood car from wisconsin. It's got issues, tranny noise is the worst of it but it runs ok. Mine has almost 200k and runs perfect. Only problems i have ever had: broken aftermarket lowering spring at about 100k (cant blame toyota for that one), bumper fell off because all the mounting tabs got destroyed being lowered 2+ inches (again, not Toyota's problem), spark plugs gave up at 150k (pretty sure i should have replaced them long before that), paint is ugly. The bottom electrodes on those plugs were even with the ceramic. Worst i have ever seen and it ran fine until all of the sudden one day it didn't.

They make a really good, reliable vehicle.

"You lie, ill swear to it"... thats what family does! You hang out here, post a pic of some random tj and ill pretend its yours. Just kidding... seriously, im looking forward to the moment when my wife and i go iff on our next adventure in life.... that may or may not include a jeep, or any other vehicle for that matter. Ive worked hard my whole life and want hang out at the "beach", not wrench on a vehicle. Good luck with your next gig, you are always welcome.

Officially TJ-free as of today. I'm just going to drive my Tacoma for the foreseeable future, then decide whether to get a 4Runner or keep the truck. As I said in the OP, I'm feeling like 31 years with a Jeep has been long enough.
Hope that you enjoy whatever it is you will be doing now. Hope to see you continue to contribute to the forum.

Best of Luck!
