400,000 people have joined a Facebook event pledging to raid Area 51

It will be the most epic news cycle ever.

This will make tv unwatchable.

As if it already isn't? My gosh... it's like the same news cycle over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... it literally never ends.

TV has been unwathchable since the late 90's. I download a handful of shows which still interest me the rest is trash, have not channel surfed or watched broadcasted tv since 2004

So, this happened while a reporter was down there...

chalk it up to the consequences of disobedience. :)
Interesting statement. Death because you didn't do what the government said to do?

Not in disagreement, its a spin that has caused wars.
WIth that said, I have been pulled out of an acft (Military) on a couple of occasions, because we didn't call tower to let them know we were doing run checks at night.

I think there is a point that death is a consequence of someone's action. I like the idea living in a civilized society, not one that people can just do as they please knowing it is illegal. Obviously, I think rubber bullets and so-on is a fist step and death should be last resort, but it should be an option if it is out of control. Law abiding people need to rule.

I agree, but when its because of trespassing on gov. property which is owned by the people, then it becomes an interesting conversation. With the current state of the union, I think it would become very ugly and become a rallying point for both sides.

Even in England? Most of everything is garbage here, but I enjoy the old Top Gear and now Grand Tour. Then there is that baking show over there. I actually like to cook, so I enjoy that. Most TV in the US is lousy for sure though.

It's a very interesting problem.

If a sizable crowd were to storm the fences, there is a very fine line between strength and weakness in how military decides to put down the "attack" with any sense of appropriateness. Obviously they are aware of this. If force needs to take place, it will very quickly become a losing battle the very moment the US military opens fire on US citizens. The rules and warnings are almost irrelevant, which is why this is very interesting and very dangerous to those currently in power.

I keep a TV for local news and NCAA BB season. I know we watch less than 2hrs a week unless its BB season.

It no doubt could. With the Internet, the nutcase type people can congregate and form a force. That in itself is unsettling.

I agree we own that, but I feel our government shouldn't have to show all its cards because once you show your cards the crappy countries and terrorists can use that against you. Somethings need to be behind closed doors for our own safety as a nation.

I think we agree on most all of this though.

I don't think they will have to shoot anyone. They will just tear gas them and then fire some rubber bullets and such. The snowflakes will turn tail and run. lol

Not even remotely interesting, by that logic I oughta be able to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom tonight right, perhaps stroll onto a Navy base & take one of ‘our’ nuclear subs out for a spin?

Would any of these numbnuts appreciate a group of people running through their property, kicking their doors down?

Fucking idiots

Maybe. It's still a very risky position to be in.

I have a feeling that those with a military background are more likely to be dismissive of the thought that an idiotic Facebook party could be a uniquely strange and very real threat to our national security. What is happening outside Area 51 right now (even if the end result is a harmless party) is very new. And it won't be the last of it's type.

What if? What if the "rules" are changing?
