I'm thinking about removing this little piece of the fender flare. Has anyone done that? Thoughts, pro or con?

I dropped mine the first month I think, never looked back. Didn't get any more spray than I was.
Just my 2 cents.

Are there screw/bolt holes there once you take them off? If so, what did you do about those?
Mine had Rubicon factory diamond plate sliders on it when i bought it so i just re-installed the screws and left it like that for 11 years. I recently just removed the sliders for the first time and they are actually little nutserts. I haven't decided what to do with them yet, I removed the sliders in preparation for the new ones that are coming. I wanted to leave them in case they serve a purpose for the new ones, if not I will probably drill them out.

LOL John beat me to it.

I removed mine when I added Rubicon flares, and the holes behind it were why I went ahead and installed the Rubicon sliders as well to cover them up

2002. Hole with unknown purpose and screw points as others point out. If I was worried about it I would have patched it with more diamond plate. Nah.
