Okay, Fess Up. Who Has Named Their Jeep? (And What Is It?)

I took my two daughters and their cousing to explore Burns Canyon once. They asked me if the Jeep had a name. I said no and asked them to each give it a name and see which one was best. One said Billy, the second said Bob, and the third said Joan. That's what they now call my Jeep: Billy Bob Joan. I still just call it Jeep.
That made me laugh out loud.

I haven’t named mine.

But my 10 year old daughter suggested “Jeeperish” since I talk so much Jeep-jibberish at home. :)
Ha! Now I have the right word to use when the sages of this group start talking about "Dana-44-long-arm-over-under-42-225s-rock-em-sock-em mods." Now us newbies can say, "You'rrrrrre talkin' Jeepersh."

I have the angry eyes headlight rings on mine. it is an SE so I dubbed it Angry Eyed squirrel> then searching for an avatar I found Scrat, so that is its name for now.

In conversations, I kept referencing the little orange Jeep. At some point, in text messages with friends, it was easier to just type LOJ. Which then just eventually became Lo-J. None of my other Jeeps ever had names. You can't really force it. However - be aware that if your friends name your Jeep, it will absolutely stick, especially if it is something you don't like! So, if that is a concern, name it quick and stick to it. I have a friend with a Jeep named Poopie, and that name will never go away, no matter how many times he tries to call it "the tan Jeep" :D

I just call it “Jeep”, but my father -in -law calls it “Peppy” since every time he’s in it he thinks it’s fast . I actually think since most of the time he’s in it the top is down and it just feels fast, lol.

Oh My Gosh. I cannot stop laughing.

I'm calling mine "Shiloh." It's a name that fits the West, but there's a deeper story. My wife was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma, so we're walking that road now. In the midst of that, some dear and generous friends learned that I had had to scrap my 2000 Expedition with over 300,000 miles on it, and they also learned of my life-long desire to own a Jeep. They gave me a financial gift, specifically for the purchase of a Jeep, that was close enough to what I needed that I could pull some other resources together and purchase my 2003 TJ. Shiloh is a biblical name and one of its meanings is "His gift."

Waaay back in 1973, (yes, I'm an Old Guy), my buddy and I were considering joining the Columbus Ohio Fire Dept. We drove all over town getting tours of Fire Stations in my 1948 CJ2-A.
One of them had an old Rio 6X6 in the back. The station was on the outskirts of the city, and there was a lot of construction in the area. The Fire Fighter we were talking to said that they took it out to muddy construction sites. When we asked what it's designation was, he said they called it Muddog.
The next time I got stuck in the mud, and got out by myself, my friend said that at least we didn't have to call The Muddog to rescue us. Then he started calling my Jeep Muddog. The name has stuck for five Jeeps now.

I wish that 20 some years ago I had realized this applies to kids also. We named our daughter Elizabeth which was fine. Early on I called her Beth but the wife didn't like it and wanted to keep using her full name. Within a week of starting kindergarden she became Lizzy which didn't take long to be shortened even more to Liz. Unfortunately while growing up I knew at least one of each that were completely unlikable and a couple Beths that were pretty much perfect. It took several years for me to get past that.

As for the name of my TJ, it's The Jeep, isn't that what TJ stands for? Actually it's my second The Jeep. The first was sold and 20 years later I got it back. It has now been renamed The Yellow Jeep mainly so the wife knows which one I'm talking about.

It's just a thing so I don't have a name for it. Other friends call it my pavement princess, but I don't really call it anything. I had never heard that phrase before, but I'd say it's more of a garage queen, minus the pristine condition.

My wife calls it the washing machine, assuming because it has similar aerodynamics. I picked her up from a happy hour once and she got in and said "take me home washing machine".
