it would likely take something like the shock of a small explosion to detonate car glass ...

All the vents do is make the doors close without any excessive... Just a thoughtful detail by the manufacturer.... Which is astounding on a vehicle that was previously so draft in its earlier models, it really wasn't much more than a covered wagon I some cases.
Well, Conestoga did need something to do when horses fell out of favor.

Here is what the idiots overlook. Very few swap tops. Thousands swap tail gates because they don't like the vent that is in the tail gate that replaced the vents in the top. They do not break out the rear glass due to no vents.
Very sound logic. However you still didn’t answer. I take that as you think there is a tiny tiny possibility therefore you don’t want to be responsible and lay your cards out on the table.

I'm late to the party, but vents in tops or tailgates are there for HVAC efficiency. The glass will never shatter from the small pressure wave created when slamming a door. Think your eardrums are stronger than glass? Those don't blow up either when slamming a door.

Man , this ain't my fight , but there is no TJ that tight or hardtop that weak.

To turn the leak you have into this is like hitting an elephant with a cruise missile. Overkill.

I would take that bet with a normal person of any level of mechanical ability because I trust that they would install it correctly and not do something that would allow the air pressure to kick the glass open and slam it into some metal object mounted to the tire carrier. You on the other hand, I do not trust to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel.
Obviously you’re upset. Also would you consider trying a better analogy in the future? Why am I pouring piss out of a boat? Why am I on a boat? The bathroom is on shore. Why are these instructions on the heel of my shoe? I’m wearing my Everlanes yo. Theyre so aesthetic. NOTHING is getting on my shoes😂 Are you from the south and are 60? Major society/generational stuff right there😂

If I were upset I would not be yet again attempting to educate and help. I should have told the shop to forgo the refill of crayons and stayed away from this thread because the ignorance is astounding.

Agreed. Moving on, the last link you provided, says I would use adhesive to get it attached to the bottom of glass. If so, how would I remove the current rubber trim?

And this right here proves that you do not read, since he said BOOT not BOAT. Not that it matters as it seems it has gone completely over your head.

The seals shouldn't be hard to swap, so I think your best bet would be to just order up the stuff mrblaine posted and go from there. If you need help when you go to do the job, start a new thread here asking for help.

As stated many times already, you will not blow out your rear window if you keep your current top!

I do not think it will actually blow out my window. You made that up. I ask if it may because other people in this form have brought it up so I am bringing it before the people who are adamant that it in anyway will not happen. Because, yih know, that’s what yah do. I am treating everyones advice as a possibility unless I too think otherwise. You have a strong opinion on the window thing like I too have a strong opinion where the leaks are coming from, because, yih know, I’ve tested it, meaning the gate, etc. What I am concerned about, are my doors/air pressure feeling. But I care more about not having a leaking car then I am door closing unenjoyment. About the word thing, honest mistake, but, do not use that to make up something about me. I have to keep repeating myself because people may not be reading/understanding things clearly of me as well.

I’ve consider having this thread taken down because of where this thread has gone, but maybe people in the future will find this and it may help their leaky hardtop as well. I’d like to just let this thread go now. I’ll figure out the best solution and take care of it. For now, @mrblaine has provided the best resources to fix the prob.

To show good graces and to offer something of worth because a good few have a strong negative feeling against what I’ve put forth for 7 pages. I’d like to provide this and hope it helps your interior related projects.

With love and respect,
-Zedd
