EJD's '00 TJ Sahara Overland Build & Excursions

Another day at the beach :p, I have to say I love Oregon.

However on my way home I notice some very sketchy body roll on turns so I pull over and this is what I see...

The DIY Disco's I had on there failed, both at once even which is weird as I definitely had them connected. Anyway super scary and i've just ordered the JKS 2000's. Hopefully those will go on this weekend! Its been way too long anyways.

I hope you submitted that beach pic for Ride of the Month. It will get my vote.

Are you even allowed to drive on that beach?

Oregon has some beaches you can drive on, and others you can't. Where about is this one?

Awesome picture BTW! The Oregon Coast is indeed a great place.

Haha yeah of course your allowed to drive on that beach, I wouldn't do it if it were a no-drive beach. It's in PC, i'm sure you've been to this beach but maybe not this part of the beach. Not to mention that it changes so often with all these storms that it may be unrecognizable. One day the was humongous boulders there, next day it was all rubble...

Then I went to Bob Straub the other day and you can drive right up and over a sand dune to get to the beach, and then head south until it ends. Problem there is the sand get so deep that I cannot even get to the end. I pretty much got stuck in 4H going forward and the tide was coming in, which is a freaky feeling. 4L got me out in reverse!

Oh yeah, I've been to Pacific City plenty of times, I must have missed that portion of it, or like you said, it changed since I was last there. I just love going there and watching people get stuck in the sand, it never gets old.

I'm glad you got out, that would have been pretty damn bad if you'd got stuck in high tide. I suspect we'd have seen you on the news!

Yeah don't wanna be one of those who get stuck out there! Though at least I carry some of those traction boards and have a winch. Funny you say that though, I did stumble on one couple who had a 2wd pickup buried in that soupy wet sand close to the shoreline. I pulled up naturally to watch, and some huge redneck type truck was pulling them out for $$, lol.

Got a little taste of snow today at the summit of the coast range. Ran University Firepower for the first time in the snow and it definitely added a whole new challenge to that trail. I will be going back up there this winter!

Ko2 snow review?
Oh i've always thought KO2's do their thing in snow. Coming from Montana they've seen plenty of it too. Obviously you can see the snow is not deep here but I was still able to do some hill climbs with little worry that I might not make it up, and honestly with the Jeep in 4HI it feels pretty grounded.

How are your grill inserts holding up wrt radiator protection and while crawling slow: temperature? I just spent some time straightening impact points on the AC fins...

They are holding up perfectly, and the temp does not rise at all while crawling.

Met up with @BuildBreakRepeat tonight for an all access trip to the summit of Mary’s Peak. Absolute stunning view from the top but the Jeeps were unable to make it up all the way due to the amount of snow and ice. Guess we’ll have to go back...:D

Good times! Can’t wait to get you guys out to my neck of the woods now.

Drilled 10 holes in my Jeep today, always fun doing that! New EAG Rocker Guards went on relatively smooth.

Ran into one snag and I’m not quite sure what to do yet. One body mount bolt had pretty corroded threads and when I broke it free it took the tapped threads with it. Now I cannot seem to tighten my center body mount bolt back into place. Anyone know a good fix for that by chance?

So I’ve been chasing a significant coolant leak for a week or so now and today was the day to wrap this up. I thought I had narrowed it down to the water pump and furthermore thought it was the gasket. It was not. On my Mopar water pump the weep hole is on the top so I had to remove the pulley to verify it was not coming out of that and it wasn’t. It was actually coming from above the water pump completely and turns out it was coming out of the inner underside of the upper radiator hose. Tightthat clamp up and added a 2nd one for safe measures until I replace the hose itself.

Hard to believe this went from almost replacing a water pump to simply tightening and adding a hose clamp.

Now I just need to tackle the leaky heater core and my cooling system will be completely overhauled!
