Self adjuster cable not long enough for drum

Hey y’all , doing my drums over and the self adjuster cable seems to short as it’s impossible to get it to route around the guide plate and still have enough slack to make it on the anchor post up top . Any ideas ? Even if I push the adjustable plate up towards the star wheel it’s still not half an inch from Making it

Do the top first, set the springs and then you can loop the bottom on.
 
ha! i think ive used them all at this point, but im almost ready to install without this cable and just periodically adjust my brakes manually
 
I’ve done it dozens of times. Set the top. Undo the spring on the self adjuster lever. Hook the cable to the lever. The last step is to set the spring onto the lever.
 
If you don’t figure it out by next week I can drop by and show you... traveling for the holidays this week.
 
Once you figure out the order to put them together, drums are really quite easy. Really shouldn’t be much fight to assembling drums.
