I messed up and bought load range E tires

You can’t judge a radial tire by anything but the contact patch (the part of the tire touching the ground). You’re thinking about it too much. At 24psi you probably have the correct contact pattern. I’m guessing the BFG engineers have done their homework and have it right.
Yes the engineers did by making various Load Range models available since different vehicles have different weights... with a LR E tire being made for a heavy truck up in the F350/3500 range, something the TJ is not even close to weight-wise. Contact pattern being correct or not at a lower pressure that LR E tire is simply too stiff of a tire for a vehicle with the weight of a Wrangler TJ.

Just installed new 35 inch tires as some of you saw my previous post spent the better part of an hour looking at my tires wondering why they seemed narrower than my 33’s only to find that I bought load range E tires. Tried airing them down to 26 PSI but still can’t get a flat contact patch I doubt I can take them back to the tire shop what are my options guys? Thanks
According to BF Goodrich's website they do not make a load range E 35x12.50 R15, Although that doesn't solve your dilemma. I agree with @jjvw , lower your pressure until you have a full contact patch. if it feels too unstable add a little air until it feels right. Check the contact patch again with chalk. The tire casing should relax after some miles have been put on them. But out of curiosity why do you believe they are load range E (10 ply rated).

If the shop won't work with you, you can always sell them off. lose a little money in the process but at least you'll have what you want in the end. good luck

Run them at 26 psi. They'll never ride half as good as a load range C, but they'll ride as good as they can ride for a load range E.

Going from an E to a C is an astounding difference in ride quality, even with both set at the same psi.

it's too bad you didn't buy them at Discount Tire/America's Tire:

One thing on tire profile ...rim width can give you the appearance you have to some extent .

^^This. Post a picture of the writing on the sidewall please.

If you had range C tires on it and the shop decided to change that to a loaded E tire without consulting you they are in error. Check what the sticker inside the door frame says.

A tire can do many thing underneath where it contacts the road. Having a crown on the top means nothing to what the contact patch is doing. All tires have a break-in period, similar to how new brakes need to get broken in when new. Even for a load E tire 20 psi is probably too low for street use. Do the chalk test to get a better idea of what to run. The OP had load E tires on when I bought my TJ. They were old and had minimal tread left, but took 28 psi to track right on the street.

If Ma and Pop don't make it right try contacting the manufacturer directly and explain the problem. Installing the wrong (and they ARE wrong) tires without your knowledge is bad business. Especially now that everyone can find out about this issue on the web.

Please let us know how it shakes out for you.

Thousands of us run LRE with no regrets..... but yes, most tire shops will trade them out for you,,,, not for free but if you must change them you can get it done. I bought 245/75R16s for my TJ and decided I wanted 255/85R16s..... Kal Tire did not want to do the trade but Colville Tire did.

You might have difficulty arguing LRE is not the right tire on a TJ since all new TJRs came with LRE Goodyear MTRs from the factory.

Hahaha something is fishy with the whole post. It’s like it’s a fake Account or something. Suddenly he is nowhere to be found when there is no 35 on a 15” rim that comes in a E rating.
I am wondering the same thing but he did join in 2018, that's a long time to hold on to a fake account.
