Good morning,
I've been looking for a jeep for a while to use as an 0ccasional driver and trail rider. Found this and bought I
2006 wrangler X
4.0 w/124k
6 speed manual
265/75r16 pro comp tires (new but past exp with procomp tires has been less than good)
Lift (assuming it's a procomp 4" since it has procomp shocks.
Smittybuilt front bumper.

So the immediate need is to replace the shocks. How can I determine the size of the lift installed? The person I bought it from had no idea.

Interior light- suggestions? Its darker inside at night than I'd like.

The seller had to replace the ignition module last week and now the wipers dont work, I'm assuming a connection came loose while the column was apart and will look at that this morning.

It was a 3hr drive home and other than needing to adjust the godawful bright headlights, the wipers and an eventual rear main seal replacement no other issues have been found.

Welcome to the forum. That Jeep looks pretty good in that picture but the Tonka sticker on the hood needs to be about 9 inches longer and 3 inches taller.

To find out the lift size you have to measure the front and rear springs. I don't know the numbers but they are on this site somewhere.

How many interior lights are currently working? My 2006 has two by the roll bar speakers and two under the dashboard and they seem OK to me.

I think the ignition module is much closer to the engine than the steering column but it could have been the replacement the ignition switch or anything in there and you're probably on the right track to fix the wipers.

Thanks for the information, I'll get a measurement on the springs and do a search for the numbers.
Only interior light are two behind the bar on the speakers, nothing u der the dash. Would like to find something to mount on the front side of the roll bar(even if it's a battery powered one)

With the Jeep sitting level, stock front springs are 12", and the rear are 8", not including the isolators.

Welcome, nice looking TJ. Are you replacing the shocks because they are bad?

I believe the front spring is 12” and the rear is 8” on a stock vehicle. Measure and take the difference.

Stock springs at ride height are 12 front and 8 rear. Anything over those numbers is your lift height.

Nice rig! Don’t jump to the rear main seal too quickly. A few years back I had to replace my head gasket, the leak I assumed was the rear main was actually just the valve cover gasket. Jeep has 215,000 miles, no leaks.

Not sure the 2006 is the same as the 2000 with respect to the mult-function switch, but I’ve been in there and it is possible the connectors are loose. Not too bad to pull off the cover but I’d check the fuse first.

Looks like between 2-3" of lift judging by the 32" tires

Does it have a body lift? I'm not good enough to tell by that pic.

Thanks for the spring height Info. Going to change the shocks because the procomps are extremely rough. I've had them on trucks before and then swapped to the ranchos and the difference was night and day.
No real rush on the rear main (going to degrease today or tomorrow so I can verify where the drip is coming from.
Other than that it seems solid, running boards are on the way and should be here this afternoon. I need to see what I can come up with for storage and I jusynoticed now that the spare is a 285/75r16 while the other 4 are 265's. So I'll do something about that soon.

It has pro comp HL-7 LED headlights and the passenger side is very bright on low beam. Hoping it's just an alignment issue.

Nice rig, I love yellow TJ’s. Good info above. I’d lose the Tonka and X stickers. Just imagining it looks much better.

Rancho 5000X. Depending on your true lift, there are a set for sale in the parts section now!

That
Springs measure 13 in the front and 9 in the back.
Didnt know you could get them an inch over stock.

That's with it sitting in the driveway as level as I can tell. Either way the 0-2" ranchos will work fine.
I'll run these tires till they need gone then switch to nitto grapplers (I've had great luck with them on 3 trucks)

You mentioned 'spring isolators' earlier. Be sure you don't confuse them with lift pucks. What is the total distance between the lower spring mount on the axle and the upper spring mount at the frame? You definitely want to be sure of your actual lift height before you order shocks.
The preferred shock is the Rancho 5000x. They offer the best ride at around $50 each. But they are a bit odd on what size you actually need. If you can take a few pic's 📸of your front suspension and steering we can help dial in on what you need to do.🤔
Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new TJ. Best Jeep ever built.🍻

Well the I-board running boards arrived and while installing them I found it there is about an 1 1/2 spacers on the body mounts. The I-boards are supposed to mount at the bottom of the bushing on the mounts but I didnt like the way it looked with the body lift so I mounted them in between the frame brackets and bottom rubber. Lifts them about 1.5" and looks much cleaner.
Turns out I was right about the window wiper- they were unplugged inside the column.
Going to try the local o'reillys tomorrow and see if I can find something to use for extra interior lights.
No plans for bigger tires so this should be all the lift it's going to get.
Have to leave tuesday for work in mexico so the shocks will have to wait. Going to research options for extra storage while I'm gone.

They make a led bulb that works great in both the speaker bar and for the one's under the dash. I don't recall the numbers but I got them at Advanced Auto.

Thanks for that, right now I have under dash lights. The only interior lights are the two with the speaker pods behind the roll bar. Thought about adding a rocker switch and some led strips under the dash.

No under dash lights is what that should say. I'd like to rig some up to a switch, I have no rocker switches on the dash so am toying with the idea of adding one to control some LED strips i have left over from an install on a boat i had.
