Are door entry guards worth having?

I bought a set of Rugged Ridge but they were too narrow to fit over the upper sill ('03 Sahara). I returned them. The paint is pretty much worn off the sills to I'm going to try a different brand.

if your leg rubs that entry 1 bit in and out don't use that. once we get some good weather and your wearing shorts you'll know why.

i hit it with bed liner when i did the tub interior, that's rough on the skin too.
This is so true, same can be said about adding some type of grip tape to the tops of rock sliders tubes.

The Rugged Ridge ones that I have are black plastic and really look like they would come on any late model vehicle.

Here’s the driver and passenger side after 4 years. The driver one has a small spot where the outermost layer of rubber got blistered when I was standing on it and turned around by pivoting.

I found these on Amazon, $21, fit was excellent, no issues with door closure. Only problem was it took 6wks. to get them, yup... straight outa China.

I like those. Sucks they come out of China. I just had to cancel and order that when I first bought it, didn't realize it was coming out of China. When I did figure it out I though, oh well, one more time. Then the virus hit. I luckily was able to cancel the order. I ordered it mid Feb. Just canceled it last week. So that shows that in 4 weeks they did nothing to get it ready to ship.

I those because you can't see it when the door is shut.

That's one reason I bought them, also there made of a pretty tough material. So far, so good.

I did a bit of research, nothing extensive though. I ran plastic entry guards for over 10 years. I found that it trapped crap and I ended up with rust spots on both sills. I looked at replacements and thought a full adhesive products is what I was looking for to prevent things from getting under it. At first I thought about using stair tread tape but that stuff is like 80 grit sandpaper and will really tear skin up if you misstep...which I have done and kids do often.
I found one company that did these with a black textured finish Xpel. They are nice but I wanted a bit more coverage. I went to their website and they sell their product by the foot. Surprisingly, it ended up being cheaper than the pre-cut product for a Jeep and you can easily cut to desired shape/length. I cleaned up the rust and repainted then applied a custom cut tread with plenty to spare...even did the tailgate.

I bought 15 feet of 4 inch wide. It was $23. They sell a 17' roll of this on Amazon but its $48! Buy direct!

Here is a picture before with plastic sill covers:
