hello I have a 1999 TJ Esce with OEM wheels. I put the 2 inch body lift on it and my goal is to put 31x10.5 on 15's steel. My OEM wheels will not fit those tires. So I'm looking for ideas. I've heard bad news about spacers an aftermarket posts. Quadratec has 15"x 8" w/ 4" backspace. Will this work on my tj with the 2" lift?

Your OEM wheels will fit those tires just fine as long as they're meant for 15" wheels.

I ran 31" tires on the stock wheels for a long time. You won't rub, even on full turn. That's only if you get something like an 11' wide tire or wider.

4" of back space is fine for your TJ. I take it your stock wheels are 15x6? I'm personally not a fan of spacers. I'd rather buy or have a wheel with the proper back spacing. Anywhere from 3.75"-5.5" of back spacing works. Most Stock TJ wheels have 5.5" of backpacking. The 2" body lift will easily allow for your tires to be installed.

Always avoid spacers if you can. The right way to do it is proper backspacing, but your factory wheels will be just fine for those tires.

Yes it's an SE. I appreciate your responses. Unfortunately I have to disagree. 31/10.15 will absolutely not fit on my jeep without spacers (which I won't put on and my mechanic will not inspect it the vehicle in pa). They will fit on the front and will rub when wheel is turned. I know this bc the 235/75's I have on there now rub on full right wheel lock. The tires will not fit on the rear due to the width of the tire. The rear springs are what stop them. I currently have a 2 inch lift and the 235/75's have less than a half in of space between the spring and tire. So obviously added 1.5 inches of width on the same wheel will not fit. I understand the tire will fit the wheel but it won't fit on the jeep without a shorter rear offset wheel.

Thanks upperMI. That seems to be the amswer I've been getting from dealers like kost and A&A who do wheel spacing. If my measurements are correct I would be safest with anything shorter than 5 bc I will be adding .75" on each side of the tire.

What wheels do you have? Many of us run stock wheels, 31x10.5, and no lift, myself included. And I have no rubbing when at full lock on surface streets.

I believe they are the factory OEM's. I'll take a few pics of the wheels and tires and the rub marks on my control arm. I know it seems crazy but I'm not kidding. Lol. It's driving me nuts. With my measurements I need a wheel that has a 4" negotive offset. I found a set of 5 steel wheels on quadratec for $250 and I'm leaning towards hankook dynapros over bfg at's.

I have stock wheels on my TJ, with the same size tires you are looking to run. My tires rub, but I just changed my driving style by using wider turns if I feel it may rub. You gotta feel it! It's a Jeep thing, but you could also adjust your steering stops. Instead of adding spacers.

Lol! Thanks Travis. But that kind of defeats the versatility of the jeep on tight trails. Thanks though.

That's the first time I have heard of that size rubbing. I wonder why that is on your Jeep? I know that I had 31's on stock Gambler wheels rub my control arms on a previous Sport, but I solved that with different front control arms. The rear never rubbed.
