I was inspired by my welding school days learning how to do 6g for pipe welding. They have these things called sissy pads for your forearm for comfort. Met an old man out here in texas who custom made mine, and really appreciated the process of leatherworking and tooling leather. Now that's a bitchin' idea! Leather-wrapped! Seriously, I love that idea.
I figured with him being in Utah, maybe that type of weather wasn't an issue. Mud and sweat...well, aged/worn/seasoned leather looks great, in my opinion. But your point is valid.Leather would look nice. But wouldn't handle mud, snow, rain, etc. Even sweat would discolor it.
This, and you could double it back too.
Spring temps in the 70s but still plenty of snow!on tubular doors ???
Ok Curved rubber. Half moon shaped. Something that would wrap copper but not that grey foam. Something high industrialSpring temps in the 70s but still plenty of snow!

That's my suggestion too. Not the cheap foam types, the dense neoprene version. It looks good and is comfortable too.... Another option on comfort side is plumbing pipe insulation perhaps.
Genuine leather, if taken care of properly, handles the elements just fine, and can be waterproofed for wet conditions as well as oiled and steam cleaned for longevity. The only reason it never lasts for most is because people dont know how to take care of itLeather would look nice. But wouldn't handle mud, snow, rain, etc. Even sweat would discolor it.
Lol, it's a Jeep. Half the Jeep owners don't wash their Jeep more than once a year. So they're going to steam clean their leather tube door covers too? Yeah I’m sure it would look super sweet, but I have enough things in my life that require delicate care. I actually just washed my TJ today for the first time since last year (not counting the undercarriage) - it still looks the same.Lol, it's a Jeep. I hear ya. It can be treated to be durable. But it'll be the 1%ers that will spring for the cost & maybe 1/2 of them actually clean it occasionally.
