What did you do to your TJ today?

Getting ready to take the dogs with us for a ride to McKinstry Peak today, put the Smittybilt C.RES cargo net on for safety. I’ve had this thing for well over 10 years and it’s held up well, takes about 15 minutes to install with the safari top back over it. If you have dogs and want to go topless this will give you peace of mind and for 70 bucks it’s worth every penny.

I was looking at that one. Wasn't sure on the quality. Thanks for this review on it. I may swing for that one because I like how it hooks to the tub.

Removed, rebuilt and reinstalled the gear box yesterday. You only get the one picture of the finished box because who wants to clean fluid and shite off their phone in the middle of a rebuild? Sadly lads and lasses, there was a casualty. Even titanium framed glasses don’t fare well when some dumbass (looks in mirror) forgets where they were lain and runs them over. Still can’t find the one lens. 🤣

First, I added a 3 inch rear lift:

Which made it easier to add this:

A bit over kill, but I sure wasn't going to put the stock one back on as it doesn't have a drain plug. For $71 shipped with a "gently used" lube locker, what's not to like? Hopefully the lube locker is everything everybody says it is. Actual oil fill tomorrow - hot as balls here and I started to get heat exhaustion - wife told me "you're done". Still trying to find a used diff cover with drain plug for the front.

For anybody wondering: There's plenty of room between the "new" diff cover and the gas tank skid - its somewhere around 1/4" to 1/2" inch larger than stock according to my calibrated eyeball. Putting the Allen head bolts in was a bit of a challenge - not enough room for both the Allen key *and* a 3/8" ratchet wrench for the bolts on the top half, so I had to use an ordinary L shaped Allen key to tighten those.

How big a job was this...mine is starting to 'knock'

How do you like it? I've read "differing opinions" on these...

It was pretty easy to install and everything lined up on the first shot. Reading the reviews, I was a bit worried the chrome grille would result in even less space for the key to open the lock, but it didn't interfere. So far I'm happy with it.

Removing it is pretty straightforward, depending on how hard the Pitman fights coming off. Cleaning the casting and parts took a fair chunk of time. Replacing the seals and packings and then putting all back took around an hour. Re-installation and bleeding the system was fairly quick. You can do it in a couple three hours.

Which rebuild kit did you use?

It’s been a while, but when it was new it was a little tough to get it under the tub corners but its easy now.

Removed the front bumper/tow hitch combo, spare tire, driver's side fender flare (so now both front flares are off), took a long look at the rear wheel well liners, and went back in the house. 🤣 I need to order some clip remover pliers to make my life easier. I also took out the front and side signal lights — gonna clean them and hit them with some PlastX.
