Can't decide on flooring options (opinions wanted)

I've been repainting the floor in my TJ and do not want to put the old nasty carpets back in. So I am looking for some options that would work well for how I use the Jeep.

I have completely removed the soft top and will be running a full length bikini top. It lives in my garage so I don't see a need for a top. When I go to the beach, it also gets parked in a garage.

I will have to deal with sand and the occasional rain storm while driving it. Plus my dogs. I have 5 of them

I thought I would get bed tred but @goatmans review was so scathing, I'm not sure I want to drop the $450 on it.

I do have weather tech mats that will go over whatever flooring I choose.

Opinions are welcome, and requested.

I'd leave it bare, I just use 3M anti-skid tape where my feet go. I don't like anything that traps water and don't mind the noise and heat running without. If you had to repaint because the old carpets trapped water why repeat the mistake? Waiting weeks for nasty carpet backing to dry is not my thing. Can't hurt to try it for awhile.

I plan to get BedRug's BedTred eventually. My plan is to Fluid Film underneath it, and cut holes where the body drain plugs are, then put the plugs in the BedTred.

For those that have bed tred or rug, does the backing hold water? Is it made of a sponge like material, I've never seen either.

I don't have it yet but from what I've seen it is a foam like material. I expect it to hold water and need to be taken out or lifted up to dry out if it gets wet enough to need the drain plugs.

I think the key is definitely how long it takes to dry out once you pull it from the Jeep after it rains or you hose it off

@Tscott since you have it, have you dealt with this yet?

Seems like it is easy enough to pull the rear floor mats and lift up the sides of the front and cargo area to let it air out when it gets wet.

The Texas heat should handle the rest.

My TJ came with Line-X sprayed in the tub by the PO. I couldn't imagine anything else. Its so easy to clean, spray out, and you don't have to worry about staining, tearing, shifting/moving, or dog hair. Every material collects dog hair, and combine that with wet flooring? no thanks. Its a breeze to vacuum dog hair off the Line-X and not have to worry about mud.

My daughter and I rolled Herculiner in hers. We used wire brushes on cordless drills and scuffed the entire surface, then rolled 2 coats and it turned out great! Just hose it down when dirty.

Thanks everyone for your input. I ended up biting the bullet and ordered the BedRug for the front, rear and cargo areas. was a pretty decent price. Ended up at $350 for all of it from Amazon.

I really pondered the DIY bedliner approach and am 90% confident I will go that route on my other TJ that will be built solely to be my ranch vehicle. If that holds up, I may come back to my primary TJ and bedline it as well. Until then, I think I have a pretty good solution!

You'll be very happy with BedRug. It's carpet, but it's easy to clean and doesn't get all nasty like real carpet does.

@Chris. That's good. The 21 year old carpet I removed was disgusting. I'm really excited about it.

If the bedrug can survive my 5 dogs (Boxer, American Pitt, Pitt/Lab mix, Smalden Hound, and Tennessee Treeing Brindle) it can most likely survive anything.

I will definitely be providing this forum with a long term review.
