What have you broken on the trail?

Only a couple inches in the floor pan. Popped the drain plugs and went about my day.

Shut engine off, shift to neutral, winch out.
Or in my case, forget to shift to neutral and drag it out with all 4 tires locked, lol.

How nervous did it make you having to make the decision to leave it on the trail overnight?
I was concerned, but I kept falling back on the idea that wheelers look out for fellow wheelers with the intermittent idea that I’d get back and the Dana 44 with all the goodies would be gone.

Do you quickly shift to neutral then start the engine up again? Not too much water enters the exhaust?

Factory transfer case linkage fell apart, was able to get through the weekend with some zip ties.

Lost the plastic piece that connects the 42RLE shifter to the shifter linkage. Luckily my Jeep didn’t back over anything/anyone because I thought it was in park until I noticed the reverse lights were still on. Also fixed with zip ties on the trail.

Bent the drag link in where I couldn’t steer - just had another guy winch it out a little. Before heading home I checked the toe and did a full alignment at home.

I busted a passenger side u-joint, since the ear was elongated just ran the stubby in 3wheel to get out and home.

LSD falling out of the rear factory locker last month.

This was the second Rubicon rear locker I broke. I drove it home and around town, popping and cracking for a week until a new ARB arrived.

I've actually never had any real trail damage. I bent the stock tie rod one day at Rausch Creek, so I just took it off in the parking lot, backed the jeep over it to straighten it out, and drove home. Besides that, I've never had an issue. I mostly attribute that to overbuilding what I think might be weak and also not being afraid to pull the winch out if I don't like how an obstacle is going.

I've had a lot of stuff break from trailing my Jeep (grit getting in joints, ball joints, etc...), but I've never really had an issue from one specific obstacle.

My son managed to rip the lower control arm mount off the front axle of my Rubicon TJ. We were able to temporarily weld it back in place and kept wheeling. When we got home I cut it back off and installed a set of Artec lower mounts. He learned a valuable lesson....i.e. listen to what Dad says, even if you think you know it all! ;)

I’ve never broken anything, but I did have the bolt get loose on the frame side of my front Currie trackbar while off-roading. I was able to tighten it with simple tools I had with me. I later drilled out the hole and upgraded to the 5/8” ball and bolt and it never got loose again.
