What did you do to your TJ today?

The thought crossed my mind to just cut the floor for sheer convenience to work on getting this out. However, I don’t have a welder (yet...I see one in my near future though) so I balked at the idea. I was almost certain the eliminators were the way to go, but thought I’d ask if anyone had any negative experiences with them or if there was some reason to stick with the stock setup. Thanks for the heads up!

I saw a picture someone posted where they had cut an access hole above the shocks, and then used a JK floor plug to cover it when not in use. Just a thought(y)
 
Finally installed my nearly-impossible-to-get OEM Rubicon/Sahara front fender flares. It was a long hard search to find them (if anyone has seen my posts on these selling for $900+ each on Amazon). Many thanks to freedom_in_4low for selling me his nice forest green pair! I painted them with SEM Landau Black and low luster clear. Painting the jeep to match the flares would have been even better, but a little too much for me. They look great!
Now I just have to do the rears. I managed to find a set on Offerup for $50.

Oh man. I’m picking up a full set of Sahara flares for $50 tomorrow 🤣 Wasn’t sure if you had found some or not.

So I have some good news and I have some bad news...

The good news: After 4 years of saving, having to use all the money I had saved for emergencies - three times! - and an extra two weeks of waiting (see post #705 in this thread) I finally have an ARB locker in my front Dana 30 to match the one I have in the rear Dana 44, and while I was at it I also had chromoly front axles installed. Kudos to the guys at Desert Rat in Albuquerque, they got it done in an amazingly short time. Life is good, right? Not exactly...

The bad news: The front locker locks up as soon as I turn on the compressor and won't disengage after turning the compressor off - you literally have to disconnect the front air line to get the locker to release. Drove the guys at Desert Rat nuts trying to figure it out. I figured it out right away: it is my fault. Several years ago I built and installed a DIY winch/locker panel. Worked great and has a retro/aviation vibe to it. Somehow, in trying to simplify the wiring I evidently went too far. What worked quite well with only one locker isn't working at all with two. So now I think I'm going to have to ditch the retro look and reinstall the original ARB Carling switches. They have something like six contacts on the back of each switch, as opposed to the two on the old helicopter switches I was using. Gee, ya think the other four wires going to each switch actually do something? Fortunately, I didn't cut any of the original wiring, I just tucked the stuff I wasn't using up out of the way. A little redesign of the panel, hook all the wires up the way they should be, and I think I'll be back in the crawling business in a day or two. In the meantime I have my DD back, so it's not a total loss.

Next up: Install the CalTrend seat covers that just came in.
I run simple on ofc switches for my ARB’s. The important thing is the ARB solenoids that the switches trigger, they should do all the work.

I would like to do the same thing. How do you you it and is it difficult?
Its not very difficult. The rod that actuates the latch needs to be bent to work but once you get in there its easy to figure out. The little wedges that hold the handle on were way more frustrating.
 
Just got back from a little trail ride around St Helen Michigan. Awesome area, trails were a little washed board and super sandy/dusty but it was a lot of fun. Going to have a lot of cleaning/dusting to do when I get back to Toledo in a few days

Got my new ignition tumbler and set it up to use my existing key. 20 minute job.

The first lock tab spring was bent in the old lock and the entire mechanism was full of oil and dirt. Someone obviously had a problem with the key and sprayed some lubricant in there, which collected dirt and pocket lint and gummed it up.

That's likely why the keys were wearing on the edges.
 
First, I replaced the steering stabilizer, with no more than the "usual hassle". Thanx to a thread here, I used a Hazard Fraught pitman arm puller and got the old one off, and put the new one on with Never-Seize. New one was a Monroe, so was the old one - I was a bit surprised that it actually wasn't the original! The "other end" had a bushing that was about .100" too wide, I saw where the "last guy" had ground said bushing down on the old stabilizer, so I followed suit and in it went.

Then the thrash began. Went to grease the 7 Zerks on the front of the Jeep - a five minute job that only took about 4 hours. Very long story short: Despite "heroic efforts" on my part, a brand new "Grizzly" branded pneumatic grease gun just would not work - the plunger would not go into the cartridge, and this model did NOT have provision to push it in! So its on its way back to Amazon where it came from, and a locally sourced (hand) grease gun was purchased and it worked right out of the box. I even used the same tube of grease I had been working with in the Grizzly! Yay me...
