A Simple Build

I don’t tolerate shit behavior. I can easily teach my daughter what she needs to know. Probably can teach her more in 1/2 to 1 hour than she’d learn all day at school plus how to change fluids in the Jeep.

Well, I don't tolerate it either, but unfortunately my wife won't back me up. She tries to be all nice with them, but once they start back-talking or not listening, I'll but in and yell at them and tell them they will do their work or they'll lose stuff. My wife will then butt in and say, "don't say that", or "don't yell at them".

How am I supposed to parent when she's constantly overruling me

I probably have 10x my Jeeps worth in mods, so don't let that number stop you!

Homeschooling does sound pretty rough. I wouldn't even try to start with that. But I also don't understand how they expect to teach 2nd graders over zoom. The teacher's union in Chicago have had constant protests to start the school year online. How people who work with kids every single day think that having school online is best for them boggles my mind.

And that's the issue. It's one thing to teach high school kids or college kids online. That I get, and that I am okay with. However, for kids this young, a huge part of school is building social skills, making friends, etc.

I've seen a number of doctors (even Fauci himself) saying that school should go back, at least for the younger kids.

Our daughter has expressed numerous times how she wants to go to school and make friends (we did just move here so she doesn't really know anyone), and how she hates the online stuff. I get it, and I feel for her. It's not fair to do this to the little kids who really need the education.

I’m excited to see where it goes, and hopefully Mr Blaine holds true to if he gets the rig he’s tossing MC arms on it ;). It’s just gone from a plan of mild to wild - but my plan has similarly evolved into more than I expected!

Conveniently my child’s mother lives in a different house. My daughter also acts about three years younger over there.

We each get a completely different experience with our daughter.

I feel like I'm finally getting to the point in my build where it is somewhat dialed in enough to start on real mods like out-boarding and the mid-arm. I've always tried to keep a concrete plan in my head about where my Jeep was going and done mods from easiest to hardest while wheeling along the way. I think that is always the best plan.

Or you can put it in Blaines driveway and get it back dialed in. That works too! I feel like MC would have to make slightly longer arms for them to fit on Chris' TJ when Blaine is done with it ;)

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. My wife wants to nurture them and coddle them, and I want to give them tough love.

They know they can get away with so much more when it comes to my wife. They don’t mess around with me because they know they’ll actually get in trouble. Of course it doesn’t help that my wife won’t back me up when I am trying to enforce the rules with them.

Bro! This right here. I have a 16 yo and a 12yo. When they were little I was always the bad guy! It gets better when they start to get older as the respond better to a dads discipline methods. Till then, your shit out of luck.😂

I’m just not sure how I am supposed to fit these 6.5” speakers in the pods. They fit in the opening, but the issue is that even with longer screws at angles, there is no way they will fit into the stock mounting holes.

In addition, the placement of the holes is in such an odd location that it makes drilling new holes impossible because half of the screw would be exposed and not grabbing into anything.

Got any ideas @skrelnik? Did you install the same speakers @Rooscooter?

That is odd as I have similiar sized speakers where the mounting holes are 156 mm apart. @Rooscooter installed these same BLAMs into his pods.

These are mine vs yours, screw hole locations, as you can see exactly the same, 156mm.

Try this method. Put the screws into the speaker's holes at first, then drop the speaker slowly into the pod while trying to get the screws to fall into the pod-holes, as you slowly lower the speaker. Give each screw a couple turns until they grab, then once all screws have a couple turns, screw each of them halfway, and then screw them all the way down.

When I look at your picture it looks like there are clips that likely fit over the edge of the pod and then the screw threads into the clip. Not sure if I’m missing the point or not. Sorry if I am.

Yes, that is indeed correct.

Which color do you guys like more?

With as good as the color change wrap turned out on my Z06 Corvette, I'm strongly considering doing one on my TJ.

I'm digging the grey color. It actually looks like the "Sting-grey" color option Jeep is offering for the JL. Come to think of it I think I've seen a TJ in that color before. I'll see if I can find it.

That's my first choice as well due to it looking like "Stringray" on the JLs.

I'd go with red. But I'd also look into Intense Blue since I don't see them often and when I do I think they look great.

How do wraps hold up offroad? I'd be pissed if I had to head to the shop every time I smacked my tub corner on a rok or fender off a tree. And can you easily drill through a wrap to add things like body armor or slider?

I'd vote the gray as well.

I looked into this extensively, and they actually hold up quite well, especially since you can easily re-do areas that get damaged. The TJ being as flat as it is is very easy to wrap as oppose to some vehicles.

You can indeed drill through the wraps to add armor, sliders, etc.
