I just bought a 2000 TJ sport and need to replace the seats. I have looked at the Corbeau, the best stops, and the Smitty built. The Smittybuilt have the cheapest adapter but I have never sat in one or seen them in person. The Corbeau lMoab look nice.
too many choices

this will be a ranch Jeep. I don’t need suspension type and just need something comfortable a weather resistant. I also need them to slide and bend forward so I can get to the bed.

any suggestions?
thanks

If cheap is your aim, then you cant do better than used tj seats from craigslist.

If you want quality, many here will recommend prp. They're made in California instead of china.

I personally wouldnt install chinese seats in my vehicle unless they were free.

The LAST seat I'd ever buy is a cheap import from China like Smittybilt and several others sell. I installed a pair of Bestop's Trailmax seats, made in China, into my previous TJ and within a year the bolstering on my driver's side seat had crumbled and had come apart under the upholstery. Bestop sent me a replacement under warranty and it did the same thing within a year as well. Even Corbeau's seats come from China.

I installed PRP's Daily Driver suspension seats into my current TJ just over 6 years ago and other than being absolutely filthy now lol they're holding up beautifully. Comfortable for long trip even though the particular model seat I chose (Daily Driver) has a fixed (non-adjustable) seat back angle. I don't find myself wishing the seat back angle was adjustable at all, though PRP does have models with an adjustable angle.

Here's the writeup I did on installing them... https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...ortable-seats-with-prp-suspension-seats.9905/

One of the best things about PRP's seats is they're American made here in California about 60 miles from where I live.

There are several write up here on seats. If it's gonna be a ranch Jeep, why don't you just put neoprene covers on them?

I found some leather BMW seats at the pick and pull for 120 bucks, had to build my own adapters, but love them.

I thought about covers but the drivers seat is flat wore out and ripped. I really don’t want to drop the $500 each on a ranch Jeep. I was hoping some could recommend either the Summit, Beststop, Smitty or Corbeau.
I really haven’t seen any decent Jeep seats on C_List

Because neoprene soaks up water and sweat, is not waterproof, causes swamp-ass, starts smelling after a while unless you wash them, and any nylon colors fade quickly. Black turns purple red turns pink, etc.. Other than that I love neoprene seat covers, 😁🤣

Neoprene is waterproof, they make fishing waders out of it. But on all other counts I agree w/ you.
My kid's are holding up good, but when I bought his TJ the ones that were in it had faded to brown. I couldn't figure out why in the hell somebody would put on brown seat covers on a Jeep w/ grey interior.

I also used the Tiburon seats. The adapters are easy to make. Straight bar stock with a few bolts is all you need. I didn't even bother welding mine and they are holding up fine.

Sorry but no, the type of inexpensive open-cell neoprene used for seat covers is not waterproof. It soaks up moisture, sweat, etc. like a sponge with prolonged exposure. I wore various neoprene dive suits, including closed cell Rubatex neoprene, for 20 years and it would take a couple days for the neoprene to finally dry out. Even my best quality Rubatex dive suits soaked up water during long dives. There's nothing quite like having to pull a still soaking wet cold neoprene dive suit on the next morning.

Good point. But is it water, or sweat?
None the less, it's a farm jeep, doesn't really matter. I'd just throw contractor bags over them and be done w/ it.

The Hyundai seats are a direct bolt in.
I did a write up on mine when I installed, the TJ seats are not parallel to the body as one would think, so when I built the adapters, it exaggerated the "off center", had to cut and weld some more.

Not exactly a direct bolt in job but it's not hard to do ...

I went with Corbeau, but don't like the adapters, since they don't tumble the way I prefer. I got them until I get my original seats reupholstered. Those PRP seats look awesome. Do they retain all the OEM features?

I've only been running Corbeau for about a year. I can make adapters to get it to tumble, at least on the passenger side, but I'm not highly motivated to do it. I did make an adapter to use with my original bracket, but it added about 3/4" and that's the wrong direction for me in the TJ and for most passengers. My wife is just a bit shorter, my dad is a few inches taller, but neither want to sit as high as the Jeep seats tend to put us at.

they do retain only sit about 1/2'' higher

Hmm. I have always thought that all the Jeep seats were already too high. I'll probably just cut down some of my brackets, so they sit a bit more normally. I need to look at PRP seats though. Might be easier than a good reupholstered.
