Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

The first York went in 4 years ago and the factory AC stayed in place and continues to do what it does. ;)
You have me very interested now. Did you do a write up on the first one in this thread that I missed?

Look in the how-to section for the York install with an ORO bracket. I think most of what I did is in there and I'll likely update it with this new build.

Here's the existing York with the new one above. The sight glass will be in the circled area in the dirt. Easy to see. Easy to fill.

that sucks. you look like you got about as low as possible. could you rig up a dip-stick through that same location?

I can go lower. My flawed thinking was to put the oil level at the bottom of the bearing races. But the York clearly doesn't want to have that much oil.

The spot where I put the sight glass is way too high. The York spit oil until it was well below the bulb. :(

Isn't only like 8-10oz of oil or something like that?

Of course you can always do it like STaK's did with their transfer cases. Their recommendation was to use 2.5 quarts of oil and then allow the t-case to SELF LEVEL..... ie:when it stops spitting out oil then that is when it's at the proper level..... 😬😦

This is correct. Later I did some mathing and figured out roughly where 8-10oz would be. I put the glass at the top line. It should be at the lower line.

I ran the York for quite a while to let it self correct. I think it's getting close to where it wants to be. And judging by the puddle, I would guess that the level is close to my lower line.

In fact, on the ORO modified York units they add a sight glass and it is at this same level. Their's is located in the back cover for the crank.

Right now, I am debating leaving things alone or plugging the hole and relocating the sight glass lower. Both of these bear the reminder of my screw up. Or I might grab another York from the junk yard and start fresh with my new knowledge and understanding.

There is a bad squeal coming from the passenger side. I thought it was the tensioner and just finished replacing it. No change.

Spraying the belt makes the noise go away. Is the belt bad? Did the York puking oil everywhere ruin the serpentine belt?
