Kids love TJs

My daughters sleep with their mouths open on trails like Rubicon.

My step-daughter is more in love with my 99 TJ than she is her Dads 2019 Corvette. So thats a win for me I guess. Were taking her and my daughter wheeling tomorrow. My daughter has been on jeep trips with me before but it will be the step daughters first time off road.
I've had a TON of different cars over my life & quite a few since the kids have been around & the TJ is hands down their absolute favorite. I think part of it might be it's relative size, and another part is just the places we can go with it. All the random classics, sports cars, & race cars I've had can't get them to school with no doors or roof, can't get them up to the top of the mountain, & don't have cool gadgets everywhere like a CB radio or a winch.

Where did you get rear armrests? That would be nice!
Looks like those are on the booster seats but I agree, that would be nice. I still make my 8 year old sit in a full booster with the back on it because of the lack of headrests. I'm planning on installing some this winter. The rear seat really sucks on our TJs.

I agree, one of those Corbeau rear bucket seats would probably be a big improvement.

I had a somewhat unusual path to TJ ownership in that I ended up with two of them within less than a year. The first one, a 2005 TJ, kind of fell in my lap last winter(acquaintance of an acquaintance wanting to sell, me happening to be looking for a stick shift for a second/weekend vehicle--confession: at the time I bought it, I had no idea what CJs, TJs, JKs, JLs are. If you had asked me what a track bar is, I would likely have said it's some sort of sporting gear). The second one is a recent local purchase, a 2006 LJ, which I actively sought out to buy because of the hard top and extra cargo space/leg room. Anyway, shortly after I got the TJ, the pandemic hit. So it kind of became our Covid get away vehicle. My 6 year old loves riding in it. She also loves climbing up and down on it when it's parked in the drive away with the top/doors off this past summer. She pretends it's her castle. We used to call it Rocky(it's a 05 Rocky Mountain Edition--again, confession--didn't know that when I bought it). When the new(to us) LJ showed up a couple weeks ago(chance would have it, it's a very similar shade of blue as the TJ), I was going to call it Stanley, after the the gentleman who had it for the first 12 years and passed away last year at the age of 89--spent all his life in the Bronx. But my daughter had a different idea--we now call the TJ "The Adorable Little Blue" and the LJ "The Fantastic Big Blue"--a mouthful, but it works. It was after the purchase of the LJ, which had some issues(all fixable, thanks to input from members here), that I started frequently using this forum for advice. Very grateful for the generous help I've received and the vast amount of useful info out here. I wonder if this is something unique to TJs/Wranglers or do other vehicles have similar community forums(Miatas, maybe?). Anyway, my daughter now would give me an earful if I miss or fail to return a wave--she does it even when I am driving our minivan. One thing I have noticed is that TJ drivers are FAR more likely to initiate and/or return a wave. JK/JL's, hit or miss. Don't know why, but an interesting phenomenon.

LOL, it’s not just the little kids!

My daughter (34 years old) used to monopolize my K5 Blazer. But once I sold it and got the TJ, she’s all “I love this little thing!”

And her brother is all “Dad, we could put some 35’s on it and.....”

So it’s not limited to the younger ones!

yup, my grandad got me into jeeps. He had a Red CJ-5 and i would spend hours inside the thing pretending i was driving when i was a kid. 20 years later I got my TJ. I think i just cant own a newer car. No other Vehicle can give me that " I can go where most vheicles cant" thing. Not even even the newer wranglers. Too much electronics. Now my 2yo daughter love the TJ, everytime she sees the car seat, she just starts to jump from excitement. That doesnt happens with my wifes car lol.

When buying a new car for the wife, the salesman tried his best to get me into a newer JL, he was dumbfounded when I told him that i would not change my TJ even if I got a JL for free.
If I got a JL for free, I would sell it and spend the $ on my TJs, or on learning how to work on TJs, or get a CJ.

I can chime in here too! My parents both have had Jeeps for a long time. My dad a CJ5, and my mom a CJ7 they bought new in '82. This was my mom's daily driver for about 20 years and what I grew up in. Jeeps have been in my blood for as long as I've been alive and pushed me to find a TJ of my own. The dream lives on in my kids too.
