If AEV makes it, it must be good right?

I HATE that you have to cut the hood to install those... especially since Rugged Ridge has one that just replaces one of the cowl covers, and routs all inside to the airbox.

I am not getting one on either TJ or JT, as I don't plan on playing in deep water, or have the need to install a dust sucker. (If I lived out west where it is dusty, I'd consider it to mount a dust pre-filter to)

Having worked on the RR snorkel design, there's a reason why companies are cutting the hoods and doing it that way. It cost about $100k in tooling, and over a year of design/prototyping to get it to work. We HATED how ugly the others were so we did it the long, hard, and expensive way. But all in all it was IMO the best design.

I agree with it being the best design. The only thing that’d make it better, is a dust filter...

I don't like any of the AEV stuff these days. I've even changed my mind on their TJ products and don't like that stuff anymore either. I think it's overrated personally.

Personally how I've always felt about AEV stuff for TJ's. If the Pintlers weren't known for cracking, I'd be more interested in a beadlock version of them. The highlines are just too expensive to actually wheel (and also not as functional as other highlines). The bumpers don't fit my needs either.

If you are just trying to drive around on the road, AEV stuff might look good. But once you start wheeling, you can quickly see the faults of AEV stuff. That being said, I'd love to own a Brute one day, I'd just never wheel it.

I think the only product of theirs I really liked was the Antarctic Commander they built... but that really wasn’t a product either...

Yep, from a purely cosmetic stand point I get the AEV craze, but as far as wheeling goes, if you break that highline kit, you’re SOL. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea if you could still get the parts new, but the fact that you can’t makes it almost irreplaceable.

Out of all the snorkels in the U.S., how many do you think have been in water over the tires? Just curious....
B,B,BUT it makes it LOOK like you could go on a safari anytime...

I think they are good ONLY when you prefilter them, like on a HMMWV, but then really only if you are on those super dusty trails out west... I've been on a few where I'd have to stop to clean the filter...

Having been on some of the 'super dusty trails out west' this summer, I still fail to see how raising your air intake from 4' to 6' off the ground makes any difference
