Another dang rattle

Yeah? Good to know. I bought mine off the Mac truck probably around 2000. Don't remember what I paid but who cares as long as I kept giving the guy $40 bucks a week :LOL: .

Still works great though, used it to find a bad wheel bearing on my wife's truck last year. It's big & clunky.
It's still big and clunky. The design hasn't changed, neither have the 70's style headphones.

I like to pretend I'm on a 1970's FBI stakeout when I drive around with wires draped all over the place & big ass headphones.

I had a deep rattle/vibration on one of my jeeps, 2004 LJ. I kept looking around the rear drivers shock but just couldn't find it. One day I decided to pull the plastic piece near the fuel cap and explore. Inside the tub, there is some bracing that's glued to the tub. The glue had broken loose and was allowing the brace to rattle/vibrate against the tub.

I chased a rattle for almost a week. Swore it was in the dash - passenger side.

You can imagine my surprise when I found it was a wire harness I threw in the glove box...

Dumbass..... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

well, I may have found the source , it has to do with the tire carrier and how it attatches to the rear door. SO I moved it around pried the bushing back up into the metal rings and had no rattle all day. I came back home after several hours and removed the 4" steel bar with rings for the bushings , (this thing actually connects the tire carrier to the door), that way when you open the door the carrier goes right along with the rear door. I still heard it just bairly but at least im on track.

Glad you found it , stuff like that will drive you crazy, I only drive mine occasionally and I never remember to look for the rattle until I here it. Kinda like you never remember you need wiper blades until it rains.

I had a rattle that drove me nuts. It sounded like it was in the dash. It wasn't until I removed the front cowl that I found a rat tail file laying next to the wiper motor that was rolling back and forth. I don't ever remember using that file in that area ever.

Theres black plastic piece behind the pass rear tire, pull it down and see if the pass side tail lamp harness is loose, if that's the area its coming from.
