For the life of me, I can't believe people listen to this

That's still better than country music!! :ROFLMAO:

Oh, man. And here, I thought we were friends... ;)

My first show was Green Day, opening for Bad Religion, at Jannis Landings, Fl. They were just starting to get big. A couple years later, they were the main show.

Damn, I must be really behind the times, I listen to ,Bad Company, Skynard , Zeppelin , the Eagles ,anything that requires actual talent to play, which rules out pretty much everything today. Dont even get me started on what they now call " country music ".

I think in our current culture talking "gangster" and sounding like an idiot is thought to be cool. The amount of adults that use "text speak" in professional e-mails drives me fucking nuts.

Online dating is even worse. One of my friends showed me the messages from a 35 year old male who matched with her, who claimed to work in finance. His first messages were "ehy wyd" and "u wana get sumtin to eat bae?". Just sounds unintelligent.

I worked on a farm during high school, and country seemed to always be playing in the trucks and stuff I drove around. I didn't really mind it then, not my go-to choice, but it was okay. Now it seems to have gotten WAY worse and more annoying. Every song seems to be exactly the same, and more country/rap now.

That would have been a good one I bet. Green Day was great back in the day.

When I was 16 or 17 I went to a free show at the student union of the local state university with some buddies. It was Run DMC with an unknown band from Mississippi opening for them. We like the opening band and hung around with them during the Run DMC set. About three weeks later I heard their single on the radio for the first time.

The song was Kryptonite, the band was Three Doors Down. Nice guys too, they had just formed and were not yet "famous" so pretty normal dudes.

Country and hip hop are very similar in that both are deeply attached to a heavily affected image and sound that is full of posturing. There is no mistaking what it is the moment you hear it.

Yes, that's why I don't care for almost any modern country music. It's taken on a very "pop" sound, and a lot of it does indeed almost sound rap like. That and the common theme seems to be tailgating, tan lines, beer, loose women, etc.

My wife likes it so I have to put up with it, but every time she turns on the radio I have to "mansplain" and tell her this isn't real country music. I then proceed by turning on some Waylon Jennings (or similar), to which she is not amused

I love bluegrass, I also love country music (i.e. Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Stugil Simpson, George Strait, etc.).

I do not love bro country. When I say bro country I mean this sort of stuff:

and

Agreed, and I hate those two dickheads you just showed!
Love Jon Pardi and Morgan Whalen too!

Is it weird I rarely listen to music now? I'll listen to some hard rock when working out, but when I'm in the car I've gotten used to podcasts or live streams. When I'm in the Jeep I can't hear the music anyway so I'll usually just listen to all the noises it makes and enjoy nature lol.

I actually listen to a lot of podcasts now as well, so I don't think it's that odd.

I play several instruments though, so I think some of my love for music comes from being a musician.
