Is there any issue with using high mileage oil in a low mileage motor?

You
I might be older than white dog sh#t, but I’m healthy and in pretty good shape. Get in and out of the TJ with lighting speed! Thanks for the welcome.
Honestly , even 75 and 80 now doesn't look like it did years ago I think people really enjoy Better health in their older years then people did 35-40 years ago.

Maybe because I'm 54 myself but I remember when people that were 65 or 70 looked pretty old...now someone will be 75-80 and look better than people that were 65 or younger did years ago especially if they were heavy smokers or drinkers.

I just might have socks older than you lol. But about people today looking younger than they did even in the 50's and 60's that's absolutely true. I was 7-8 years old visiting my grandmother in Texas and she just looked terrible... no teeth, really saggy old waxy looking skin, and just sat in her chair all day. I learned she was 62 and just assumed that's how 62 year olds were supposed to look. It's a good thing that's not the case for most people now.

And Michigan TJ it's nice to have another 70-something year-old guy here, we aren't dead yet are we!

I said grandmother that's terrible that looks horrible that looks so painful..... She said you think that's something wait till you see the leg the spider bit.

Yeah, Jerry, we’re all wise and knowing now, aren’t we! But the generations sure do change, don’t they? My parents never did the things at this age that I’m doing now. Still riding a motorcycle, now a Jeep, we have a jet ski, ski boat, and still teaching grandchildren how to do things. Definitely not dead yet!

Oh great, another oil thread :)

These old Jeeps always have all kinds of expensive issues, maintenance and repairs. Worrying about Castrol vs Mobil Super is like Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

That's exactly what I was trying to say when I started...
. Here we go again trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

my only beef with high mileage oil is I think there are people watching me at check out thinking my jeep has more miles than it really does...sort of like I'm trying to buy Viagra or something and want to keep it secret.... And they are whispering ..he must have a little TJ. His wife doesn't look happy. Poor guy.

I use synth blend, but I don't really think there's any significant benefit to it over straight dino. Possibly you could go longer between oil changes in terms of time. As in it won't break down as quickly, in an engine that doesn't run all that much. I keep miles per year pretty low on all my vehicles, more so on the TJ because I don't drive it when salt is on the roads. I typically change the oil once per year.

Totally anecdotal, but I settled on Castrol GTX high mileage. I have no idea if this is a sign of high quality oil, but it is the only oil I've used that comes out almost as clean as it was when it went in. Before using it I was used to oil going in a clear amber color, and coming out much darker. The Castrol doesn't do that, it's still very clean coming out even in older engines. I've been using it for many years, in many different engines, and it's the same story each time.
