Let's see those Jeep Wrangler TJs carrying kayaks and canoes

You guys may want to check out "Simplestraps" ...they were invented by surfers using cut inner tubes to strap down their boards.

I carry them for trim and light loads in my work truck.

Good thread...when I see a Kayak on a TJ I see fun on top of fun.

Did the truckers hitches not put too much downward pressure on the hardtop? I know when you fit cross bars they have to go a specific distance in from the edge where hard top its the strongest.

Also where are you tied down to at the front.

Cheers
I noticed the truckerhitch settles a bit, especially driving off-road,
before hitting the Hwy, I always check /adjust the tension
- your right , if I keep the canoe on the hardtop for a couple of weeks without removing it, it actually leaves “footprints”, but they disappear again after a short while, I never noticed cracking or such
- as for the front tie down, I do have a Jackall mounted crossways on the hood , that doubles as tie off point
- at the rear, it’s tied off in the corners of my custom bumper which allows me to open the rear of the Jeep without untying the canoe

ps: I’ll search for some pics

I made a rack from an old light bar, some UHMW plastic laying around and drop from an aluminum beam.

I recently picked up a used light bar for the front of a roof rack I'm building. It's similar to yours but I have no idea what brand it is. It's aluminum and the rest of the rack is steel so I'm bolting the front to the back. I currently carry my kayaks on my trailer and it will be nice to head out with just my Jeep and my kayak from time to time.

Now you've got me wondering. I think all of the Royal Reserve Rye Whisky stickers had "Royal Reserve"on them but now I'm not sure. It's not exactly high on the shelf booze. I think my first bottle was in high school; curved bottle back pocket stuff. The bottles used to have a sticker on them but I doubt that's the case now. I'm going to check! Those stickers ended up on everything ... car windows, tool boxes, coolers, hockey helmets ... you name it. No doubt they went on to canoes too! 🇨🇦
