The 15 Rarest And Most Unique Jeeps Ever Produced
  • 8 Jeepster Commando.
  • 7 Kaiser Jeep M715.
  • 6 Hemi Jeep Commander.
  • 5 J10 Short Bed.
  • 4 Wrangler Rio Grande.
  • 3 TJ Wrangler Rubicon Tomb Raider Edition.
  • 2 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Sahara Edition.
  • 1 Jeep Hurricane Concept.
When I was looking for my Jeep, I came across a Tomb Raider edition.

But the guy was asking way too much for it, and if I was gonna pay big bucks for a Jeep, I wanted more than stickers and seats and maybe wheels.
But they do look cool! 😸

My 2004 TJ Columbia Edition with 89K miles; virtually stone stock save for 31" tires and a 1/2" spring spacer lift. Special Columbia Edition stitching on the seats, Rubicon (slightly wider) fender flares with Dark Graphite Metallic paint which matches the Ecco wheels, metallic silver center and instrument panel surrounds. Obviously a "cosmetic" Special Edition, as are most I guess. I do like the black with dark graphite contrast; I've added a pair of half doors with another set of OEM mirrors and all doors keyed alike. Soft top only, Dana 30/Dana 35 LSD, 3.07 gears, Cruise Control:

Can't find it, except for the one uploaded within the last 24 hours by a UK garage with one for sale. That description and logic sounds pretty sensible. To be honest I like it basic, anything else would seem somehow wrong to me. The only luxury in it I have been happy about is the 6 disc cd changer in the centre console, but then I am old enough to have a large CD collection.

The one thing I am a bit frustrated about is what seem to be 'non-standard' seats, which as far as I can tell means I can't get any seat covers that will fit it. Not a pic of mine, 'borrowed' from the dealer's website who has the one that the YouTube video advertises, but same seats...

Do the head rests come out? Never seen those in a wrangler before! Do they both slide and tumble? easy to hang rear storage bags off :)
The vid I see was an old UK jeep dealer vid and I am pretty sure their Grizzly came with no back seat as standard so it could be classed as a commercial trade vehicle. I could have dreamed it though lol

Hey UKTJ, let's have some pix!

Especially the stickers or badges particular to that special edition.

Seems to me that most special editions I heard of were done on the X model as a base. I could be wrong, but that's what this thread is all about, let's learn!

This thread is worthless without pics
OK, so it is trapped in our garage at the moment with a few tonnes of excess gravel behind it, so there are as good as it gets.

Having seen all the TJs on here one thing it has which I really do not like are some sort of wraparound plastic bumper parts, which will definitely be coming off.

Yes, I have never taken them out, but pretty sure the headrests are moveable, when they are pulled fully up there are little buttons that I think will release the stems from the seat. Both seats slide and tumble.

This one had rear seats, it is not quite that basic, lol. The rules may have been different nearly 20 years back, bt just taing ht erear seats now would not make it a commercial vehicle, to qualify as such in the UK a vehicle has to be able to carry a load of at least a tonne (excluding the weight of any top box load cover). It is why all the double cab pick-ups here carry 1.05 tonnes, so they qualify as commercial even if a top box load cover is fitted.

My son’s Rio Grande in Champaign Gold. The front seats have been re-covered, the back is the original cloth southwest design. Original canvas. Period appropriate Dick Cepak Baja light bar rounds it out.

Rubihara #443. Does anyone know how many Rubiharas came manual trans versus auto?

I feel like I've seen somewhere on the interwebs they did a 50/50 split of auto/manual...so 500 of each. Don't have any real source to cite for that though.

I just purchased Rubihara #523 last month and am still getting to know her...but did get to play in the snow a bit a couple weeks ago. :)

This is my '03 Rocky Mountain Edition. It's not all that "special" but it is an "edition".

Off the top of my head some of the differences are front and rear vinyl seats and colour matched wide fender flares. I understand many came with Alcoa aluminum wheels but mine had chrome steel wheels. That might have been a US vs. Canadian market thing. I replaced them with the Ravines in this pic and eventually MOABs. I've also heard several Americans say that the Rocky Mountain Edition sticker was on one side only (passenger's?) which would seem odd. Mine has them on both sides and I've only seen them that way here. I think the colours were limited to Silver, Red and Navy (might have been one other).

My 65th has them, they are a compliance thing outside USA, most in Australia have ditched them, They couldnt fit the factory fog lights on with them in place. I bought end caps for my front bumper but am actually growing to like the "Pedestrian Pushers" so have not taken them off yet. Aftermarket flat end caps are cheap, Mopar flat end caps are quite pricey though I just bought Rugged Ridge, they all have the matching bolt holes

Same weight in OZ for commercial, minimum 1Tonne carry capacity.

Looks like my 65th got the wider 4 1/4" wider colour coded flares :)
Just looking up TJs and the 65th was a Sahara without the rocker sills and more standard feature included.

  • 65th Anniversary Edition: 2006 model year came standard with all the options of a Sahara but without the rocker sills, seats, decals and trim. It also came with fog lamps, CD player with 7 speaker sound system and Sirius Satellite Radio, SunRider soft top, 30" tires with 15" Alcoa aluminum wheels, high pressure gas charged shocks, Dana 44 rear axle and exclusive 65th Anniversary Edition seats, trim, floor mats and decals. The available colors were light khaki, dark khaki, bright silver, black and Jeep Green.[8] Only about 1600 were made.
Was going to clean it today but its pissing down on a Holiday Monday, looks good wet though.

Had her out today for the first time since last autumn, so I took a couple of pictures. As stock as stock gets...
