Well it’s happened, Jeep left me stranded. It started and drove fine to town, parked and 20 minutes later would not start. When turning the ignition it would make one very, very faint click then nothing however all gauges, lights, stereo heater blower, wipers etc. work. Voltage is good, ignition seems to work properly ie: key inserts, turns and removes easily. I swapped relays around with the starter relay no change, checked fuses, all good. Couple of hours later I was going to try some “neutral safety switch” work arounds but it started right up no problems even tried it several times and started as it always has. Any ideas?

Ya the faint click definitely makes it sound like a battery cable connection. Take them off. Clean them and put it back together. If you do remove the starter motor most auto parts stores can bench test them.

Also there is a wire on the starter motor that goes from the solenoid into the motor it’s self. My one jeep didn’t start because of corrosion on that wire. I was able to wiggle it and get the Jeep started a few times before it broke completely.

This will be the very next thing I check.

Update: Removed the starter, it was weak and pulling a lot of amperage so I replaced it. While in the "mood" and greased up, I replaced the neutral safety switch as well (that was a BITCH that I do not wish on anyone) and as a bonus the back up lights started working. I'm going to chalk it up as both needed replaced. Thanks for the replies!

Battery connections was my very first thought, they’re good. I’ll work on checking the starter next. Hopefully it will do it again now that it’s in my driveway 🤞🏻
We all know they never stop working in our driveway! It is always away from home🤣🤣
Hope you got it fixed👍
