Alex01 Silver Sport Build Thread

Can the lower part of the latch be moved closer to the hood so the rubber snubber is pulling straight down?
No, it doesn't have any adjustment on the fender. Does the hinge adjust?

were their slots for mounting holes in the bottom part? If not is there enough material to make slots?
The fenders have oval cuts allowing for some wiggle room f/r. I need it L/R.

Yes there is enough meat on the fenders but I'm not stoked on the idea of cutting them just yet.

Of course neglecting to install the latches during mock up is coming back to bite me.

Maybe different latches like you said, I just don’t know if the angle would affect them too. Can you shim the upper latch part out to make it align better? I might have some UHMW plastic you could cut some from. TAP Plastics is another source.

Angle affects it. I can get it to close with a slight pitch towards the hood. I'm going to try the new hinges and see if they help. If I run into the same issue I'll return them and use a shim.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Well Done, Sir. That looks Great! With all the aluminum armor you guys are running out west...who's gonna be the first to buy an Aqualu Alumimum tub? LOL
Those things look awesome. I'd consider it but then I'd need to strip all the paint off the armor and polish everything.

Makes sense since the MC ones are a slight highline. Would you ever consider running genright or crawltek HL?
I thought about it but ultimately went with the stock size because I knew if I got highlines I'd want 37s. In my personal opinion, 35s look a bit small under them, and 37s are a whole different can of worms. Maybe in the future but I need more time in this configuration first.

The MC fenders allowed me to run a good amount LESS bump stop than the GR fenders. With the new fenders I'll need to add 3/4". At least they look nice
Wow, surprised it’s that much. Did you move the axle forward? Is the 3/4” bumpstop because the tire is hitting up on the fender?

Yes. Tire is on the upper edge of fender. Tons of rear clearance.

I haven't touched the control arms yet.

I was able to push the axle 4 rotations forward. I had to modify the TB a bit but it clears now. Crossing my fingers I didn't take out enough to cause any issues down the line.
Wheelbase seems to be exactly 93.5" so I'm not quite sure what I accomplished pushing the front all the way forward and the rear all the way back 🤔

You accomplished stock wheelbase + 0.5”. 😉

Don’t tell Christine (Kristine, Kristina, hopefully I got it with one of those spellings)
Combo of 1-3 christina.

I told her I'd get her some heated seats just in case we have colder weather again. That's the only thing she cares about so hopefully I get them in time 😬
