Has anyone had issues with jam nuts loosening on Savvy's aluminum tie rod?

I have used a crows foot and torqued to 160 ft lbs. You can only go so tight before you start to pull the threads on either the jam nut or the tie rod itself.
So, that being said I will go back to my original plan of drilling the jam nut and installing a set screw.
How will a set screw hold the jam nut when there's more than 160ftlbs of undoing force?

My suspension and steering has a total of 17 jamb nuts and none of them come loose. you are not going to strip that. If i tried hard enough i could probably pull 160 foot pounds with a wrench. Give it all you got and report back.

Ive spread the jaws on 2 cheap wrenchs tightening jam nuts on my suspension. The tool failed long before the threads would.
 
No, not rolling them. wrench on the tie rod and wrench on the jam nut to lock it down.
I have one set of Savvy control arms on my LJ, and they haven't come loose. I don't do anything special. A 24" pipe wrench on the arm, and a big wrench on the jam nut. I torque them until I'm red faced.

Just set the purse down for a minute and tighten that crap.
 
Do you guys all daily drive or are they strictly trail rigs.

I've never had any of the jam nuts on any of my jeeps come loose either. I also never had to tighten the shit out of them either. I usually snug them and leave them.
I'll put my purse down and tighten my man skirt and put my 5 foot pipe on it.
You weren't expecting anything different, were you?

Damn, if the Red isn't working something is wrong. You only use red if you never what to dis-assemble what ever you assembled with it! It takes about 400 degrees to get it to release.
I see folks say that quite often, I am very confused by it. We remove fasteners done up with several grades of red with no issue, no heat, just hand tools and impacts.

Same here, don't think I've ever had a bolt break because of loctite. Just pulled some grade 5 1/4-20 bolts out of an angle iron notcher over the weekend that were covered in the stuff, just used a ratchet wrench.
 
Prep is key with lock tite. If you don't prep properly, you might as well not use lock tite at all.
If you do not use 271 or equivalent on the bolts that hold the caliper saddles to the knuckles, they will fall off. New iron threads, new zinc plated bolts, grease and oil removed from both, take them out with hand tools. Not easy, but not permanent either.
