Manual transmission noise

I'm kinda late for the thread there but... Pulled my NSG370 trans at work today found a tiny bit of play on the input shaft. So far I'm told its the clutch springs that cause the rattle and that a new pilot bearing will help take care of it. Also have issues with reverse.

I had the same problem with the 2002 jeep wrangler manual transmission. I replaced the clutch, flywheel, fork and TOB because my friend wanted to replaced the clutch. at the beginning he thought it was the TOB, but it wasn't. it was the input shaft bearing in the transmission. you should check that also since is common on those jeeps.

I second the Throw out bearing. I’d be Shocked if it wasn’t that
 
Dusting this thread off and airing it out eh?

For others researching this topic I'll echo what's already been said; It's normal, for mine at least. My NV3550 has been making that same sound for over ten years and 75k now and my transmission isn't in any distress. Maybe some day it'll need a rebuild but not anytime soon.
