So like usual, my task of changing the u joints became a lot harder than I expected.
I stripped the head on one of the 3 unit bearing bolts, what are my options? Can I cut the head off of would it still be stuck inside? Don’t have a welder to weld a nut on but it seems like the only way.

Can you get a smaller 12 point on it and smash it on with a hammer? You may only get one shot at removing if you do it that way

are the other two bolts already out? you could cut the head off and use a punch to drive it out if it still doesn't want to come out.

Buy yourself a welder and weld a nut on. The welder will pay for itself repairing further rust on the Jeep, based on the picture shown.

One isn’t out at all, the other 2 are slightly threaded through but are also stripped a little.

I guess I’ll cut off the head (at least the really bad one) and then use the trick with using a bolt and turning the steering wheel to get it off

I’m considering buying a harbor freight welder to attach a nut to get it off, but hopefully I won’t need it

if the two come out and there's only one left and it has no head, I think you'll be in business.

I think all 3 are too stripped, would I be okay if i cut the heads off of all of them to pull it? Might have to buy a dremel to reach the top one, or maybe use my sawzall

It might be worth it to give @LieutenantJohnson's idea a try. If it doesn't work, you can always fall back to mayhem.

if you do end up cutting, i'd cut as close to the head as you can.

I’ll try that. I was using a 13mm, not sure if 1/2” is slightly smaller or larger but I’ll try that and maybe a 12mm
13MM is just over 1/2". So give the 1/2" a try. Let that bolt sit for a while with a ton of penetrating oil on it. A little heat might be your friend too. Good luck ! You will get er

1/2” worked perfectly (on the other 2, one was really bad and I had grinder it off) so thanks for saving me time from grinding those off also
